PBACCA's President's Letter

Happy Labor Day! I hope you all got a chance to kick your feet up for a little bit and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

As we are busy with work, I wanted to remind you that our Annual Golf Tournament is coming up. This will be held on Saturday, October 26th at the Winston Trails Golf Club, Lake Worth. We have formed a golf event committee and are looking for sponsors and volunteers. Please see the advert in this edition for details on registering your team(s), sponsoring the event or both!

Our next General Meeting will be on October 3rd. Our guest speaker is Rick Torrance, the code enforcement manager for Palm Beach County. We have some changes coming up in our industry and we are looking forward to his presentation, as he will be taking questions as well. If you would like to present your questions ahead of time, please forward them to me or Alexa and we will be sure to have them addressed at the meeting. I’m looking forward to seeing you all there. We are meeting a new location (to us): The Stadium Grill, 1203 Town Center Dr. Jupiter, FL 33458.

As a reminder to our members who are sending students to “school” (FACAA Apprenticeship), classes begin on Monday September 9th.

We are still researching the viability of joining with FRACCA and looking forward to your input. We understand the limitations presented in the past and have not made any decisions; however, we are doing our due diligence in researching the opportunity. Please click to share your comments below.

One last item, our popular event held in February, the Sporting Clay Tournament, is getting to the planning stages, please contact Alexa if you want to get in on planning for this event!

As always, I hope you stay safe out there, from driving to climbing ladders!

Kelly McCann, PBACCA President

FACAA 2024 Graduation

The Florida Air Conditioning Apprenticeship Association (FACAA) and The Palm Beach Air Conditioning Contractors Association (PBACCA) celebrated the 2024 graduates of their apprenticeship program during a banquet held on August 1, 2024, at The Beach Club in Lake Worth Beach, FL. The event was attended by more than 50 instructors, employers, friends, families, and industry members who came together to honor the graduates.

FACAA Program Director and past PBACCA President Steve Sparks, along with FACAA Committee Member Rhonda Beeler and other PBACCA members, hosted the event. Steve Sparks kicked off the evening by recognizing the resilience of the graduates, who persevered through the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. He thanked the graduates' families for their sacrifices and the sponsoring employers for their support over the past four years.

The event was honored with guest speaker, Florida State Senator Lori Berman,...

How the Growth of AI Can

Grow Your Buisness

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is making waves in the air conditioning industry. With HVAC contractors facing unique challenges due to a shortage of skilled labor in an industry that deals with unique and complex challenges, using AI may provide some of the solutions. In many areas, AI is transforming how contractors work, manage projects, and deliver services to their customers. If utilized correctly, AI can optimize system performance and streamline business operations. Let’s look at practical ways that AI can grow your business.

1. Recruiting Tool for the Next Generation

As experienced technicians retire, there’s a growing need for fresh talent to fill the gap. AI can help attract a younger tech savvy generation who are excited by the fresh innovations in an industry that has at times been slow to change when it comes technology.

2. Improve Customer Service

Software companies such as Bluon and Service Titan are already using AI to help technicians get vital information they need when finding and diagnosing problems in the field. They are also able find the OEM parts and the stocking distributor with the help of AI. Both of these examples improve efficiency times for the customer and frees up valuable time of the technician or contractor to focus on more complex tasks.
