Changes to the NVQ Scheme for Plant Operators

The current scheme for Plant Operators to gain their NVQ Level 2 in Plant Operations that is required to allow them to then gain either a CSR or CPCS Plant Operators card is changing in January 2018.
The current experienced worker practical assessment route that plant operators can currently use to gain a Level 2 NVQ in plant operations will cease to exist for registrations in January 2018.
Currently operators can complete a skills assessment via a practical assessment on the item of plant in which they wish to gain a Level 2 NVQ to allow them to then progress onto a CSR or CPCS Blue Plant Card.
This route will no longer be available come January 2018 and instead of the 1 day assessment route operators will now have to complete a number of On Site Assessments (OSAT) to build up a portfolio of their skills in order to gain their NVQ.
This may take from a few days to a number of months to complete depending on the activities being carried out by the operative at the time.
Red to Blue card upgrades will also have to go down the OSAT route from January 2018.
Due to the changes to the length of time required to complete the NVQ, resources required and number of site visits that will be necessary it is likely that the new system will have a major impact to our clients.
In short this means the faster, more cost effective method of completing a plant NVQ will no longer be available
In order to avail of the benefits that the current EWPAR for Plant Operatives can provide then please contact us to make sure that you complete any qualifications that you need before the 31st December.
