Last two sessions: Meet the Immigrant Entrepreneur Speaker Series wraps up this Friday

Please encourage your Scholars and Alumni to attend our Meet the Immigrant Entrepreneurs Speaker Series this month.


In partnership with Immigrants Rising, we are hosting 5 career-specific sessions to introduce Scholars to a panel of immigrant entrepreneurs within a specific career cluster. Panelists will include undocumented professionals who are self-employed or own a business.


Our last two sessions on Healthcare and STEM are happening today and Friday at 6:00 pm ET. Here is the email we sent, including the full schedule of sessions. Recordings will be uploaded here.

TheDream.US is Seeking a Program Associate!

TheDream.US is seeking to fill the Program Associate role (remote). We are looking for a mission-driven team member who is committed to empowering undocumented students.

 

Here are some of the qualifications:

  • 5+ years of operations and/or program management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in business management or communications (or equivalent work experience).
  • Experience in and a deep commitment to serving immigrant youth.

This April, we launched new PC Survey Reports that provided our Partner Colleges insights on what your Scholars are saying about their experiences on-campus. This is part of our larger initiative to apply our Scholars’ voices and data to scale impact for undocumented student success. 

 

With over 3,000 Scholars participating in this year’s survey and an 80+% response rate, join us for our next PC Power Hour where you will:

  • Learn about your Scholars’ academic and career needs during the past 2022-2023 academic year
  • Receive updated reports with 2023 Scholar Survey data
  • Hear Best Practices from TheDream.US on how to apply this data to scale supports for all undocumented students 
  • Hear Best Practices from Partner Colleges on how they are using last year’s survey data to strengthen their programming and reach on-campus

2024 SUCCESS CONVENING - Register by Dec 31st to receive a 30% discount!

Our Supporting Undocumented Students' College & Career Equity: Strategies for Success (SUCCESS) 2024 Convening will be held at Rice University on Friday, March 29 through Saturday, March 30, 2024.


The focus of the 2024 SUCCESS convening will be to share and equip campuses with cutting-edge practices and resources that support the educational and career equity outcomes for undocumented students, including non-employment-based experiential learning models, pathways to graduate and professional programs, career development for undocumented students, and more!

Scholar Programming

Closing Today: Teach for America Ignite Fellowship

Encourage Scholars to apply for Teach for America’s Ignite Fellowship for the spring 2024 semester! Ignite is a virtual, paid, part-time tutoring fellowship sponsored by Teach For America. The fellowship is open to all TheDream.US Scholars who have an ITIN or SSN (work authorization is not required), have at least a 2.5 GPA, and meet other eligibility criteria. Fellows receive $1,200 per semester. All majors welcome!

 

Key dates:

·      Application Deadline – Wednesday, November 15 at 11:59pm

·      Spring Fellowship Dates: February 5 – May 3, 2024

Pre-Health Dreamers’ PEEP Applications Now Open

The 2024 Peer Engagement Enrichment Program (PEEP) application is now open. Undocumented students (DACA, TPS, Non-SSN) pursuing health-related professions (i.e. medicine, nursing, PT, dentistry, etc.) who are planning to apply to advanced health programs are encouraged to apply.


PEEP advises students to become competitive applicants and focuses on empowerment, self-advocacy, story sharing, professional skills, entrepreneurship, and more.


APPLY HERE Deadline to apply is December 1, 2023 at 11:59pm PT. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. For questions, contact Pre-Health Dreamers’ Maria Navarro at maria@phdreamers.org.

In Case You Missed It

Apply for the Career Development Event Fund (while funds last)

Apply for up to $2,000 to host your own Career Development Event for Scholars regardless of work authorization. Events should focus on entrepreneurship, small business ownership, and contract work. 

 

Check out our toolkit for helpful suggestions on event structures and key learning objectives.

 

Funds are first come, first serve, and available until exhausted for this year. Funds can be used for food, guest speakers, alumni/student panel honorariums, or other vendor costs.
