During August, Dovetail had their first retreat since 2014 in Ely, MN. The retreat brought together staff, associates, and the original founders of Dovetail. This retreat gave us the invaluable opportunity to build stronger connections, align our goals, and reflect on past achievements and future projects.

EU Deforestation Regulation:

Is the European forest products industry content? NO!

The new European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which is to take full effect in December 2024, is to guarantee that the products the European Union (EU) citizens consume do not contribute to deforestation or forest degradation worldwide. While the intention is noble, and widely supported, including by the US and European forest products sectors, its proposed implementation is not widely supported. Following a Dovetail Partners article aimed at US wood products exporters, “Do you export to Europe? Urgent attention to the EUDR needed”, in our April 2024 newsletter, this article presents the perspective of the European forest products industries.

This is an opportunity for residents in Minnesota along North Arm, Mackie and Lindskog Roads to reduce the risk of wildfire to your homes by implementing wildfire resiliency strategies. If you haven’t had a Firewise Evaluation done on your property please contact Gloria Erickson, St. Louis County Firewise Coordinator to schedule an appointment or watch “Tips for Backyard Wildfire Resiliency”. Stacked piles need to be in place by Sunday Sept. 15th. The operator will begin haul away on Monday Sept 16th. Please do NOT add to piles after this date.

Join Dovetail at the first NYC Climate Week Event on September 24th from 5:00pm - 8:00pm! AWC and WoodWorks' first NYC Climate Week event, a panel titled, Building with Wood: Nature's Climate Solution, will take a deep dive into the sustainability of the whole wood products sector from forestry and manufacturing to building design and policy to explore the many ways wood products are a right-now solution to many of the environmental and social issues of the climate crises. AISES Conference
