A Simple Way to Reduce Stress

By Kalpana (Rose) M. Kumar, M.D.

Over the past few years, we have all experienced significant amounts of stress from many stressors we were unprepared for. There has not been much guidance offered to us on how to deal with this now chronic state of stress we have had to endure. Medical research estimates as much as 90 percent of illness and disease is stress-related. It is the major cause of anxiety and depression, and significantly contributes to heart disease, diabetes, IBS, sleep disturbance, elevated blood sugar, hypertension and tension headaches, in short, it is a primary risk factor of all the major co-morbidities people suffer from in our country.

The Secret Behind Reciprocal Love

Eric Ehrke, LCSW, LMFT

Joy flowing from your heart…joyfully shared is a powerful elixir. Love inspires more joy, a willingness to change the world or perhaps dream of greatness like the mother above whispering in her youngster’s ear. Holding the light for a struggling soul until they find peace or realize prayers can be answered is a wonderful practice. When service is provided joyfully, love erupts spontaneously, and the server provides a valuable gift more important than food or money. We left our spiritual home to learn more about love, express love and embody divine love, joyful service reminds the receiver how wonderful life can be.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Treatments for the Discomforts of Menopause

Chunchieh Bruce Sun, CAc, MSOM, Dipl OM

A large percentage of women going through menopause have uncomfortable symptoms. The age of natural menopause can vary from 45 to 55 years. Some women breeze through this transition. But for many others, hormonal changes create a range of discomforts.

National Nutrition Month

Joy Lenz, RD CD

March is National Nutrition Month. This year the theme is Fuel for the Future. The hope is that you are encouraged to fuel yourself well now and in the future. It also recognizes that we want all ages of people to fuel themselves well. Finally, as we fuel ourselves for the future, we will also be making decisions with sustainability of our environment on our minds too.
