We returned to El Salvador on

March 1, 2017 and enjoyed our first two months, getting settled-in, adjusting to the heat, culture (especially the “red-tape” everywhere and the amount of time everything takes to accomplish), and rebuilding reconnecting with people in our community/village as well as with fellow-missionaries.

Near the end of April, we received an e-mail from Canada Immigration, with an April 25 interview date for Samuel’s application for Permanent Residency. We had a few days to pack and have several important ministry related meetings and then flew back to Canada for the interview!

We praise God that Samuel was granted permanent residency in Canada! We were advised to wait until his PR Card is issued before travelling though and are praying that it will come quickly as we want to get back to El Salvador ASAP -knowing that God is in control and trusting His perfect timing!

AND, while we are back here (in Canada), God has been orchestrating some amazing meetings and we are so thankful for those who have been helping to network! We have had opportunities to share our testimonies and the vision that God has given to us for El Salvador and we are excited about what God is doing while we are here.

We are also so excited to announce the incorporation of the FATHER’S HEART FOUNDATION, CANADA!! Pray that we will receive the Tax Exemption approval before the end of the year. And, we still have openings for board members and volunteers here in Canada!

Okurut Family Prayer Requests

We are in need of a 6 passenger vehicle for a few weeks, if you know of one we can use! Ours was promised to a missionary family of 8 on furlough from Uganda and the work truck that we were given to use, does not accommodate our youngest children’s carseats and not all the seat belts work well…

And, when we arrive back in El Salvador, we need a new family vehicle as well! Our minivan has been in and out of the mechanic and  just before we left the engine which was rebuilt is now toast again. We are trusting the Lord for a vehicle.

Please also pray for our health and strength (physically AND spiritually!), for our marriage and parenting and homeschooling and provision. And, Charity has been struggling (sometimes with greater intensity), with joint pain, inflammation, adrenal fatigue and pelvic organ prolapse. We had tried to see a specialist, but the timing didn't work out, but we trust God for healing and His grace truly has been sufficient…we do need wisdom and provision for taking care of our health though.

THE FATHER’S HEART FOUNDATION,

EL SALVADOR

NEWS AND PRAYER REQUESTS

When we arrived in March, we immediately began outreach and ministering to people in our community, but have now stepped away for the month of May and feel the need to get back quickly - especially for some of the youth who need consistent discipleship. Pray for girls like Maricela, who are fatherless and vulnerable.

During our two months back, we had been working more closely with about 5 single moms in the community too and assisting them in being able to provide for their families through small business ventures and teaching biblical business principles as well. Pray for them!

We also met with a few men in the community who would like to learn how to do “Farming God’s Way” and aquaponics and are looking forward to begin training when we get back! We look forward to doing more with the sustainability farm and our neighbours when we get back! Already, while we have been away our chicken coup has been stocked with chickens.

We hosted one local outreach event, lead by some of our board and met old and new neighbours in our community as well and look forward to continuing weekly Bible studies.

And, we hosted a family (for a day visit), who are praying about joining us on the mission field next year - please pray for them!

We would like to extend electricity to the property this year and begin construction of the First Family House, and we also have a pressing need to begin construction of our Guest House (as soon as the Guest House is built and until we can build our own home in the community, we will move there and know that we will be much more effective in discipleship and in sharing the Gospel with our neighbours once we are living there!).

Missionary Teacher: We have had some interest, but would love to have a Missionary (home-school) Teacher (assistant), to help with our Children’s schooling (Pre-school, grade 1 and grade 3). There is opportunity for this short or long-term missionary to help for the Okuruts and within The Father’s Heart Foundation. Teacher would only need to provide for their airfare and visas, but would have all other expenses covered. - let us know if you are interested in this unique opportunity to both serve and to see the beautiful country of El Salvador!
