High-Quality Drinking Water Report | Oceanside Water Utilities' mission is to provide residents and businesses with reliable, high-quality drinking water. The City continues to expand water infrastructure, optimize water investments, and establish water-efficient practices to assure we’re providing safe and reliable water for years to come. To deliver on this commitment, the Water Utilities Department conducts extensive water quality testing with a robust monitoring schedule. Oceanside Voters to Decide on Renewing Measure X in November | Oceanside's half-cent sales tax (now known as Measure X) was approved by Oceanside voters for a period of seven years beginning in April 2019. The half-cent tax has generated between $13-$18 million per year for projects and services, but will expire in April 2026, unless renewed. This revenue has been used to aid in homelessness, expand road repairs, modernize the City's infrastructure, enhance public safety, and expand youth programs. Oceanside Parks & Recreation will host an incredible fireworks display on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, in celebration of Independence Day and Oceanside's 136th birthday on July 3, 1888. Fireworks will begin at 9:00 p.m. in the heart of Oceanside at the SoCal Soccer Complex at El Corazon. New Downtown Fire Station to Open in July...You're Invited! | The City will hold a dedication ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new downtown Fire Station 1 on Monday, July 15 at 11:30 a.m. All are welcome. The new station is located at 410 N. Freeman Street. Funding from Measure X has supplied the majority of the design and construction costs. Aside from Measure X, the City received a $3.5 million federal Defense Community Infrastructure Program grant for the project. | |

New Technology to Streamline any Future Evacuations | New technology is now in use to help streamline any future emergency evacuations in Oceanside. Specific, delineated evacuation zones will help emergency managers send out precise, location-based alerts during an emergency evacuation. Specific zones were developed using geographical boundaries like canyons, rivers, and freeways to create more logical and precise zones. This system will limit larger, unnecessary evacuations and support more efficient repopulations to get people back into their homes sooner. Learn more | |

City Honors Regional Responders to Pier Fire | In grateful appreciation of the many regional partners that aided in extinguishing the Oceanside Pier blaze in late April, the City held a special recognition lunch last week at the Junior Seau Pier Amphitheater. Due to collective and coordinated actions, there were no injuries, and 93 percent of the beloved Pier was successfully saved. Oceanside Unified School District News | Three OUSD elementary schools will join Pablo Tac School of the Arts as designated magnet schools this fall. The Board of Education voted unanimously on this designation. Each magnet school will offer specialized programs to enhance academic achievement and create opportunities for students to explore meaningful areas of learning.
