Oceanside Voters to Decide on Renewing Measure X in November

Oceanside's half-cent sales tax (now known as Measure X) was approved by Oceanside voters for a period of seven years beginning in April 2019. The half-cent tax has generated between $13-$18 million per year for projects and services, but will expire in April 2026, unless renewed. This revenue has been used to aid in homelessness, expand road repairs, modernize the City's infrastructure, enhance public safety, and expand youth programs. Oceanside voters will decide on the renewal in the November General Election. More

New Technology to Streamline any Future Evacuations

New technology is now in use to help streamline any future emergency evacuations in Oceanside. Specific, delineated evacuation zones will help emergency managers send out precise, location-based alerts during an emergency evacuation. Specific zones were developed using geographical boundaries like canyons, rivers, and freeways to create more logical and precise zones. This system will limit larger, unnecessary evacuations and support more efficient repopulations to get people back into their homes sooner. Learn more
