With the Olympic Games on our minds, we asked Sydney Meyer, one of our talented personal trainers (and a former competitive dancer) about her memories of Olympic Games in the past. Here are her answers:
Q: What is your favorite Olympic moment, and why does it stand out to you?
Sydney: I remember watching Shawn Johnson at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and loved her powerful and athletic, yet performative routines.
Q: Which Olympic sport do you love the most, and how has it influenced your approach to training?
Sydney: Gymnastics. It’s the sport that most closely relates to my background in dance. I appreciate the athleticism and gracefulness to the sport.
Q: What do you think are the key elements of an Olympic-level training program that anyone can incorporate into their routine?
Sydney: Olympic athletes have two things in common: consistency and discipline. They’ve allowed their craft to develop over time, which is what gets them to the level they are at. Members of OAC can implement those same two philosophies by sticking with their fitness goals and showing up even on the hard days.
