NEW TRAFFIC SIGNALS AT PARKHILL MAIN STREET AND ELGINFIELD ROAD IN PARKHILL | |
On September 19th, Middlesex County activated the new traffic signals at the intersection of Parkhill Main Street (County Road #81) and Elginfield Road (County Road #7).
| | |
Due to concerns about increased traffic volumes moving through the intersection, Middlesex County undertook at traffic study to determine whether the intersection warranted traffic signals. Based on the study’s analysis of traffic volumes and turning movements through the intersection, it was determined that traffic signals were warranted. These new traffic signals will ensure safer traffic conditions for all road users in this area.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the new traffic signals, please contact Middlesex County through their Citizen Request Portal.

NORTH MIDDLESEX SPOTLIGHT:
PARKHILL MEATS
| |
Parkhill Meats was established in 2016 and continues the legacy of Les' Country Meats, offering local butchering services for 45 years.
7 years ago, Yaser AlQayem left his career as a Manager with London Life when he bought the facility and founded Parkhill Meats. Having never run a business, and not knowing anything about professional meat cutting, Yaser had a steep learning curve as he prepared to open his doors. Working day and night on building updates and learning about the business, Yaser along with 3 employees, opened Parkhill Meats in 2016, a business which was left empty by the previous owners. One of the reasons Yaser decided on this new path, was the challenge of finding good quality, local meat since immigrating to the area. As a meat lover, he knew that this was an important market segment that offered an opportunity.
| |
Since 2016, Yaser along with Parkhill Meats team has taken Parkhill Meats to the next level, presently employing 19 employees and selling to wholesale customers as far away as Windsor, London, Hamilton, Mississauga, Burlington and Brampton.
Yaser’s recipe for success: good service, partnering with local farmers to provide quality products, reliable consistency, and employing the right people, like Mary Beirling. Mary (pictured above) has been an employee of Parkhill Meats since the beginning, and according to Yaser she is the backbone of the company. Mary said an important part of Yaser’s success is due to his treatment of his employees, “making them feel like part of a family”. He provides a delicious lunch to his staff daily, a rare perk in today’s economy.
Yaser stays connected to the community through his involvement in community partnerships like the local 4H Club. Parkhill Meats purchases livestock from students that have raised the animals.
| |
Parkhill Meats provides halal meat including beef, veal, lamb and goat. Essentially, halal meat requires that animals are treated with respect and butchered respectfully under humane conditions as per provincial regulations. Before each animal is slaughtered, a prayer is offered. |
Parkhill Meats is currently in the planning stages of an expansion which is slated to be complete in 2025. It is forecasted that the expansion will require an additional 20 employees including butchers, packagers, logistics handlers and cleaners.
