NORTH MIDDLESEX FIREFIGHTERS TO DISTRIBUTE
FIRE & CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS
The North Middlesex Fire Department received 144 combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarms through Safe Community Project Zero–a public education campaign made possible by a grant sponsored by Enbridge Gas and the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council.
The program delivers combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to residents in Ontario communities who need them the most. The smoke and carbon monoxide alarms will be distributed to community members in need through the Ailsa Craig Food Bank and local distribution.
"2022 saw the largest number of fire deaths in Ontario in decades. This sad fact is a reminder of the dangers house fires pose to the residents of North Middlesex, and underscore the importance of being prepared for an emergency, whether it’s fire or carbon monoxide. Having smoke and CO alarms in the home, and an escape plan in the event of an emergency will help to keep our families safe”, said Greg Vandenheuvel, Fire Chief of the North Middlesex Fire Department.
