Have A Safe July 4th

With July 4th just around the corner, the Montebello Fire Department is doing all that we can to ensure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable Independence Day.

While "Safe and Sane" fireworks are allowed within City limits, MFD strongly encourages residents to place safety first and utilize the following tips to keep you, your family and friends safe when using fireworks:

🧨 Purchase fireworks from reliable sources: Buy fireworks from licensed and reputable vendors and only those that are "Safe and Sane."

🧨 Read and follow instructions: Carefully read the instructions and warning labels on the fireworks before using them. Follow the recommended safety guidelines and handling procedures.

🧨 Choose a safe location: Set off fireworks outdoors in an open area away from buildings, dry grass, and other flammable materials. Maintain a safe distance from people, vehicles, and pets.

🧨 Have a water source nearby: Keep a bucket of water, hose, or fire extinguisher close by in case of accidents or emergencies. This can help you quickly extinguish any small fires that may occur.

🧨 Designate a responsible adult: Assign a responsible adult to oversee the fireworks display. This person should not consume alcohol or any substances that impair their judgment.
