In his first letter to the Corinthians, St. Paul mentions various ministries that God has called Christians to: “…first, apostles; second, prophets; third, teachers…”. We are confirmed that the ministry of catechists is both ancient and integral, that from the beginning it has played an essential role in the life and growth of the Church. Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity to recognize those called to this service, pray for and with them, and commission them in this ministry. This year’s theme is, “Come to me all you who labor and are burdened.” (Mt. 11:28). |
