St. Patrick's Day Parade & Celebration Recap
A cold and blustery day did not stop our council from marching in the 41st Annual Northern Westchester/Putnam St. Patrick's Day Parade in Mahopac on Sunday, March 12th. It was a great day for the Irish and anyone who wanted to be Irish for a day! Thanks to all who turned out to march, and the Fourth Degree Sir Knights of the Mother Cabrini Assembly Color Corps who led the procession of Knights.

After the parade, our council hall was full as we served up a great corned beef and cabbage lunch, and enjoyed live performances by the Kelly Oster School of Irish Dance and the Stephen P. Driscoll FOP Lodge Memorial Pipe Band. We were honored to be joined by the parade's Grand Marshal, The Rev. Joseph Tierney (pictured here, second from left), and other dignitaries from our community.

On Saint Patrick's Day proper (last Friday) we served a complimentary corned beef dinner for our members and friends. Our good friend (and new brother Knight!) Father Szymon stopped by to say hello and get some corned beef and cabbage (or was it kapusta?). Thanks to all of our members who worked so hard to make the parade day and St. Patrick's Day so great!

- Collections are ongoing for the "Midnight Run" sponsored by our Ladies Auxiliary in conjunction with Immaculate High School in Danbury. You may drop new and gently used men's and women's clothing, blankets, sleeping bags, backpacks, and outerwear in the collection box in our lounge. Please get in your donations before March 31st, the date of the Midnight Run.
- The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic men's fraternal service organization with several great youth programs. Since 1972, KofC councils have sponsored the International Free Throw Championship, which is now open to boys and girls between the ages of 9 and 14. The basketball championship is set up to have the contestants compete within their own gender and age group. All competition starts at the local level. Winners move on to the district, regional, and state levels. From there, some make it to to the international level for championship competition in their group.
Our Youth Activities Director, DGK Steve Gheduzzi, once again ran our council's Free Throw Championship at St. James the Apostle Church in conjunction with the parish CYO, led by our FS Mike Rama. This year we had 98 participants--an exceptional turnout! Pictured below are the winners in each age group, who were presented with awards at yesterday's CYO Awards Breakfast.
