Midnight Run: Help our Ladies Help the Homeless!
Our Ladies Auxiliary is sponsoring a "Midnight Run" in conjunction with Immaculate High School in Danbury, Connecticut, to collect and deliver food, clothing and toiletries to the homeless in New York City.
Midnight Run is an organization based out of Dobbs Ferry that has been delivering food, clothing and toiletries to the homeless in New York City for more than 25 years. About 5 to 6 times per year, a group of students and chaperones from Immaculate, a Catholic high school, go to the city on a Friday night to deliver food and clothing to the homeless at several locations. It is a wonderful opportunity for the students to serve and interact with many homeless men and women. Students meet at the school around 6 p.m. on the night of the run, where they sort clothing, prepare the food, and make bags of toiletries. They leave for Manhattan at 8:30 and return to the school around 1 a.m.
New items needed:
- Men’s underwear, socks and long underwear
- Ladies' underwear
Gently used items:
- Men’s pants and sweatpants, T-shirts, sweaters, sweatshirts and hoodies
(most popular), coats, dress shirts, and footwear
- Women’s pants and coats
- Blankets, sleeping bags, and backpacks
- Jackets, gloves, scarves, and hats
The Midnight Run takes place on Friday, March 31st, so please get in your donation before then. Look for the donation bin in our lounge, which should be in place shortly. Monetary donations are also needed, as the trips are fully funded by generous donations from Immaculate families, alumni, local businesses, and charitable organizations like ours.
Your donation -- large or small -- will be greatly appreciated. Please help in any way you can!

Knights in Action to Help a Local Family in Need!
Our brother Knights in Mahopac Council have asked us to help them help a local family after a fire tore through their Peekskill apartment (pictured) on January 23rd, taking the life of Elizabeth Birmingham and leaving her family in need of support. In addition to losing their home, Albert, age 13, is autistic and suffers from severe diabetes. He cannot monitor his diabetes because of his disability and requires nursing care. He is having difficulty understanding what happened and lost his mother, his home, all of his belongings, and his pet cat, which was his comfort animal. You can read more about the fire and the family in this Journal News story
.
Mahopac Council is holding a spaghetti dinner fundraiser at their hall (
161 East Lake Boulevard) on Sunday, February 19th starting at 1:30 p.m. Please bring your family for lunch and help them raise money for the Sullivan-Birmingham family.
Members of our council may also help by donating trays of prepared food for the spaghetti dinner. If you wish to donate food, please contact GK Rob Firriolo, who is coordinating food donations with Mahopac Council. They are still finalizing the details for the spaghetti dinner, and we will update you if plans or their needs change.
You may also help the family directly by clicking here and making a donation on the family's GoFundMe relief fund page.

We will also have a guest
speaker from a local charitable organization, CAREERS for People with Disabilities, which will be the recipient of a donation from the Conference as well as the proceeds from the breakfast.
RSVP by February 20th to GK Rob Firriolo.
The cost is $15 per person and may be paid at the door.
