You can see the benefits of using visual language which is often overlooked and forgotten about with many young Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners. The children in the video are both under the age of two and are engaged in the learning process. It is critical that deaf and hard of hearing children have exposure to a visual language at an early age. It all begins with exposure to American Sign Language.
ASL:
"What's that? ☀️
Baby #1: "sun!"
"Sun! No sun outside, right?"
"What's that?" ☁️
"Cloud! Can you sign cloud?"
Baby #1: Pointing fingers at cloud
Baby #2: "cloud"
☁️ "Cloud"
