Monday Memo

December 11, 2023

Note from School Leaders

Dear Rising Tide Students and Families,

Thank you for your flexibility during a busy December for our faculty to participate in a full professional development day last week. These days are important opportunities for our teachers to focus on collaboration and action-planning in an effort to collectively improve our approach to teaching and learning and achieving excellent student outcomes. The majority of the professional development day was focused on our collective work in supporting all learners. Our general education team focused on additional ways to use the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework as another tool to design our teaching and learning practices to embrace student variability. Our special education team focused on the IEP Improvement Project, preparing to use the state’s new IEP form by the start of next school year. Additionally, teachers gathered in professional learning groups (often called PLCs) to support one another with their own goals for instructional practice and student learning, and all staff participated in additional training for emergency preparations.

Have a wonderful week.

Sincerely,

Michael O'Keefe

Head of School

Interim Principal/Assistant Head of School
