THE MINUTARIAN

April 21, 2024 | Issue 42

A Great Week to be a Rotarian!

Tuesday April 16, 2024 was a very special day for Rotarians at the Port Orange-South Daytona Rotary Club and District 6970 at large.

I was privileged to be a part of a ceremony to recognize two members for their support of The Rotary Foundation and their induction to and elevation in the Arch Klump Society.  These are the highest levels of award recognition by The Rotary Foundation. It is rare to have multiple AKS members in the same club, let alone to be able to recognize them at the same time.

Andy and Molly Clark, long standing members of the club were inducted into the Arch Klumph Society-Trustees Circle. An honor that recognizes a gift of $250,000. Andy and Molly have always been dedicated to service through Rotary. Andy spoke about the benefits to their estate planning of giving to The Foundation. Andy was accompanied by his daughter Emma Clark.

AKS members DS and Angela Patel were elevated into the Arch Klumph Society-Platinum Trustees Circle. This honor recognizes gifts totaling $2.5 million. DS and Angela are well-known in Rotary circles and their community for their generosity and commitment to the ideals of Rotary. They both spoke about their Rotary experiences as well as a recent trip to RI Headquarters in Evanston, IL. (see below)

Also participating were Past District Governor-Past District Foundation Chair Jeanette Loftus and Assistant Governor Area 8-District Major Gifts and Endowments Chair Hewitt Dupont.  Port Orange-South Daytona President Ben Eby and Foundation Chair Ann Martorano also assisted.

Other guests attending included Past District Governors Jeff Michelman, Rich Cooper, Mike Darragh, and Art MacQueen. Also, Assistant Governor Area 8 Serena Fisher, RC Edgewater President Peter Stanton, and RC Daytona Beach Service Projects Chair Adam Dovi.
