Nominations for District Governor 2027 – 2028
Nominations are now being accepted for the District Governor who will serve in the 2027-2028 Rotary year. Please encourage individuals who have served their clubs and communities with distinction to consider expanding their service and sharing their passion and commitment with the District.
The Nominating Committee for District Governor is charged with seeking out and proposing the best available candidate for District Governor-Nominee. Clubs of the district are invited to submit names of candidates using the online nomination form found on the Rotary District 6970 website Nominating a District Governor. Nominations must be submitted by October 24, 2024 for consideration. The committee, comprised of members representing a cross-section of the district by club size and geographic location, will interview qualified candidates in a timely manner and notify the District Governor of their selection. The selection will be announced to all clubs as prescribed by the District Policies & Procedures.
Qualifications for District Governor are defined in the Rotary Manual of Procedure. In general, the nominee must:
- Be a member in good standing of a functioning club in the district.
- Have served as a club president for a full term or as a charter president for at least six months.
- Demonstrated willingness, commitment, and ability to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of a governor.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the qualifications, duties, and responsibilities of the governor as prescribed in the bylaws; and
- Submit to RI a statement that the Rotarian understands those qualifications, duties, and responsibilities, and it qualified for the office of governor and is willing and able to assume and faithfully perform those duties and responsibilities.
- Unless excused by the RI Board, they must attend the 2027 International Assembly for its full duration and have been a Rotarian for at least seven years on July 1, 2027.
