Week of Sunday, July 7, 2024

We hope you can join us for worship each Sunday morning at California Heights United Methodist Church (3759 Orange Avenue, Long Beach, CA).

We are gathering this weekend on Sunday, July 7 at 10:00 AM. We will celebrate Holy Communion this week.

Rev. Scott Andrews will be preaching this weekend. His sermon title is "Sent" from Mark 6:1-13.

The Anthem for the morning will be "On Eagles Wings" shared with us by our Summer Choir.

We hope to see you on Sunday.

A number of you have reached out to Rev Scott and the Church Office regarding receiving emails from Rev Scott asking for Amazon Gift cards or other forms of assistance. These are a SCAM.

The easiest way to tell is that Rev Scott only uses one email address: revscottandrews@gmail.com. If the sender of the emails you receive uses any other email address, please know that these can not be trusted.

Of course feel free to contact the church office if you ever have a question about suspicious emails from the church or Rev Scott.

We started on Wednesday, June 26 with Christianity: The First Thousand Years in our Church Parlor. This DVD series was created and produced by the A&E channel.

We are having sessions at 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Each will include 30 minutes of watching DVD and then 30 minutes for discussion.

This study will run until August 14 (not including July 3).

We know what some of you are thinking ... Christmas in July. No this isn't the Hallmark Channel. We are going to have an organizational meeting for this year's Alternative Christmas Market.

We will meet on Sunday, July 14 in the Church Parlor following worship (11:15 AM).

Our church rummage sale is set for September 12 to 14. Start collecting your gently used items!

Beginning August 12, jewelry ONLY may be donated. Volunteers are needed to sort, clean and price the pieces.

All other donations may be dropped off in Hughes Hall starting August 26.

A list of acceptable and not acceptable items will be handed out with the bulletins starting in June & sign up sheets to help will be in the Narthex & Hughes Hall.

Needed for the Rummage Sale: Trader Joe's paper bags. Please drop them off at the Office, or give them to an Usher on Sunday.

Any questions, please call Judy Reeves (562) 618-4066 or Melody Doukenick (562) 810-5311.

Our knitter's group has returned! They gather from 6:30 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday evenings in the Bride's Room. All skill levels and all questions are welcome.

Please let Esther Fairris (e.fairris@charter.net) know if you will be coming.
