Word from the Pastor
Well... looks like flexibility remains the name of the game.

Though the church did not lose power during the damaging wind storm, like so many congregation members did, the compressor for the sanctuary air conditioning unit died right before our Sunday, June 25 service of worship. Hey, it was only 80 degrees in the sanctuary.

However, we've learned that we have to replace the entire system for the sanctuary and that may take many months.

So, as you can see in the opening photograph, we have set up our worship space in the Fellowship Hall for the foreseeable future.

In the long run, mixing things up like this for the summer will bring new elements of opportunity.

By the way, I highly encourage the entire congregation to participate in this year's intergenerational Vacation Church School (see the Compassion Camp article in this newsletter). Of the 5 lessons, 3 will be on Tuesday through Thursday, July 11-13 in the evening, starting with dinner at 5:30 pm. The other 2 will be incorporated into our Sunday services of worship on each end, July 9, 16.

What Every Living Thing Needs
Vacation Church School

July 11-13 evenings
for ALL ages

Compassion Camp is a program where participants explore what it means to have compassion for themselves and others and the world.

As we look around the world, our deep need for compassion becomes more evident with each passing day, perhaps now more than ever. Compassion Camp aims to cultivate compassion for each other, ourselves, and the world. We will examine different places in our lives where we can cultivate compassion. Using each Compassion Camp component, we’ll explore themes of compassion as they relate to each session’s scripture.

Through Compassion Camp: What Every Living Thing Needs: Participants will explore what all living things need to live - shelter, food, water, air, and community - and how we can have compassion for the living earth especially in their local ecosystems.

Through awareness, gratitude, wonderment, reciprocity, and kinship, participants will consider how to become co-sustainers and participants in the work of God’s creation.

Using Psalm 104 as our grounding text, along with supporting scripture, participants will closely examine the interconnectedness of the whole earth - humans alongside the more than human world.
Through sessions including Gathering & Music, Bible Story, Create & Play, Movement, Recreation, Compassion in Action, and Sending & Music there will be something for everyone!
Volunteers are needed to help make Compassion Camp a resounding success. Please (click name to) email Betsy Guyer or call her at 402-202-3522 to find out more!
Day Center for the Homeless Meal
July 22

July’s meal will be Braum’s hamburgers, slaw, pickles, oranges, lemonade and homemade cookies, as well as milk for breakfast.
If you would like to bake cookies, please text Caroline Johnson @ 918-629-2882.
When we were there in May, a client helping us prep the meal to serve said, “Gee, I haven’t had a hamburger in months!” Hmm, perhaps that was when College Hill delivered dinner in March.
Many thanks to all of you who continue to support the Day Center for the Homeless!

Beautifully handcrafted and painted by David & Susan West, this Blessing Box is now a permanent fixture in the chuirch's
