The Lobe...Some reading this will remember the days when WCUW 91.3 published a newspaper called
The Lobe. In its day, the paper gave the local weekly a run for their money. Well, they won the publishing race, or have they? If you're at all interested in the local music scene you know the printed press has given up on local listings, and finding a central on-line source to locate your favorite band or know who's playing at your favorite venue is a search.
That said, please say hello to
Jay Berman. For some time Jay has been presenting a weekly events calendar via his Facebook page sharing where most every Rock/Folk/Jazz/Blues musician/band is playing in Worcester County Thursday through Sunday. Jay also shares his list on Darren Pinto's Friday Night Blues from 5 pm - 9 pm. To garner his weekly list even more eyes, Jay has offered to share it here via "The Lobe." We're honored to do so.
Facebook Jay, or email him
HERE if your event fits!
So, every Thursday, and hopefully before 5 pm, expect Jay's List as well as other WCUW news that's on hand. Jay's postings are extensive and yes, you'll learn how to spot what you want to know; once you do, you'll be looking for it every week! And if you do go out after spotting something on the list, tell the venue where you found the info!
Enjoy...

Thanks to all the bands, WCUW Members, and non-members who supported the 'Thank You" party at Halligan's! And a double dose of LOVE to both Jonathan Leary and Peter Allard for the amazing sound all afternoon. And thanks Huck for keeping a smile at the door.

Improvements coming to the WCUW FRONTROOM
The WCUW FRONTROOM
will soon be going through renovations that will allow for additional seating in a more intimate setting. This will involve the modification of our entryway that will open up into our new gallery/lobby area. Once completed,
Cinema 320
will, in addition to their Clark location, use the room for presenting foreign films. The 75 seat facility will be available to others to use as well. We will be seeking out corporate and foundation support to fund this project.

James Montgomery
will chat with Troy Tyree of
The Jukebox of Americana
Friday Nov. 30th at 11:10 AM ~
When blues legend James Montgomery plays the harmonica, he "brings it on home". Whether it's recording with
Kid Rock
, sitting in with
Gregg Allman
, or fronting his hot band of thirty years, Montgomery plays with authority. While growing up in Detroit he learned firs
t-hand from the masters - James Cotton, John Lee Hooker, and
Jr. Wells - at the legendary
"Chessmate."
Over the years, he's carried on in the tradition and continues to be a vital presence in Blues as one of the most dynamic performers on the scene.
Listen in for tickets to the
All-Star Tribute to Blues Legend James Cotton
12/6 at the
Narrows
