Cooling Centers to Open in Livingston County During Heat Wave


Livingston County, in partnership with the Avon and Dansville libraries, will open free public cooling centers at both library locations June 17-21, 2024, in response to an extreme heat Hazardous Weather Outlook from the National Weather Service (NWS)..

Livingston County Recognizes 80th Anniversary of D-Day


Livingston County commemorated the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings during World War II, a pivotal battle that turned the tide against Nazi Germany and ultimately led to the Allied liberation of Western Europe. Road Closure and Detour in Mount Morris


Presbyterian Road (County Road 72) in the Town of Mount Morris will be closed to all traffic between Wildcat Road and Union Corners at 7 a.m. on Monday, June 17th, 2024, for a culvert replacement. A detour will be posted for the duration of the closure, which is scheduled to last approximately eight weeks.

Livingston County Historian's Work Featured in Fly Fishing Magazine


Dark Skies Fly Fishing Magazine recently featured an article by our County Historian, Holly Watson. Check out Holly's story on the rise and mysterious disappearance of Sara Jane McBride, an early woman fly tier who published on the concept of "match the hatch" almost 100 years before it was widely popularized. McBride was a resident of Mumford in the late 1800s who gained a national reputation for her high quality imitation fly fishing flies.
