The season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday (this year, 2/14) and lasts for forty days, not including Sundays, to conclude on Easter Sunday. The Lenten season is often a time of centering and remembering Jesus’ life and journey to the cross.
This year, our sermon series will give us a fresh perspective on Jesus’ story as we look through the eyes of one of Jesus’ most enthusiastic disciples: Peter. With the sermon series, Wandering Hearts, created by A Sanctified Art, we will “see a person who is both steadfast and unsteady, a dear friend and betrayer, a follower and a wanderer. In Peter, we often see ourselves. By following Peter’s journey, we watch the story of Jesus unfold through the eyes of a very normal human trying to figure it all out – just like us.”
As we become companions with Peter along this journey, we have the opportunity to practice our faith in a new way. Lent has long been a season where people either give something up or pick up a new practice.
WPUMC offers a variety of practices for you to pick up this Lenten season. You can join our Lenten study, Taize Services, mission engagement projects, and meaningful worship services. Additionally, this year, we are offering Daily Devotional emails to be delivered every day to your inbox to help you pick up the practices of centering, reflection and prayer. To sign up to receive these emails through the second week of Easter, sign up here:

I pray that your Lenten season is filled with growth and comfort as we grow in our common humanity and spirituality together.
Grace and peace,
Rev. Sandi
