May 2024

A Note from the Mayor

During this vibrant season, our community buzzes with excitement—events, warmer weather, and the hustle and bustle of seasonal activities fill the air. Meanwhile, within the walls of City Hall, our team is in full swing as we enter the final stretch of budget season.

On May 3, I had the privilege of presenting the FY2024-2025 budget address, themed "Keeping the Promise of Growing Home." This year, our focus remains steadfast on enhancing public safety, fostering economic development, maintaining city cleanliness, and providing unwavering support to our staff—each a vital pillar in our mission to construct a brighter, more prosperous Hopkinsville.

We've undertaken a comprehensive review of various agencies and programs across our community, strategically proposing to invest in initiatives that promote the growth and prosperity of our citizens.

As we reflect on the progress of this past year, I'm filled with pride, and I eagerly anticipate an even more fruitful year ahead. Together, let's continue to work toward a future where Hopkinsville shines brighter than ever before.

On April 18, Department of Justice issued an announcement regarding the federal prosecution of a Hopkinsville felon for the unlawful possession of a firearm. Tyrone Poindexter, 42, is no stranger to Christian County District and Circuit Court. He has been arrested, convicted, and released multiple times over the past several years here in Christian County. This, not only, reaffirms Chief Newby's commitment to pursuing federal prosecution for those involved in drug trafficking and firearm-related offenses, it stands as yet another testament to the tireless efforts of our dedicated Hopkinsville Police Department in enhancing public safety, safeguarding our community, and keeping offenders like Poindexter off the streets.

"I want to thank the men and women of the Hopkinsville Police Department for their hard work and dedication to public safety in our community." said Chief Newby. "While I made a promise to pursue federal prosecution in cases like these, it is truly the diligence and dedication of our officers that bring these endeavors to fruition."

This production is an irresistible family musical about Joseph, Israel’s favorite son. A show that is entirely sung, we follow the Narrator and the children’s chorus as they tell the story of Joseph and his ever so jealous brothers. Featuring a variety of musical genres, lots of dancing, and plenty of laughs, this show is all about being playful, silly, and of course, as flashy as that technicolor coat.
