"Explore Scripture" From Pastor Rob

Read the Bible. This is the theme of my newsletter articles quite often because the Bible is there and it doesn’t change. Styles of communication change. Styles of dress and hair and cars all come and go. Ways of talking evolve over time. Just read a novel from 1900, and then from 1945, and then 1995. How politics function changes over time.

The word of God is constant, always true, and always relevant. Recently, we heard Erin Stratton preach on Genesis 3 (July 30), and then Amy Brown preached on the same passage (October 1). Go back and listen to both sermons. The links are at the bottom. Amy’s message had some flaws in the video, but you can hear her entire message. Blood Drive - Saturday, October 14 from 9:30am to 2pm

Donate blood! Save lives! Help our community by donating this month. One donation can help up to 3 people! The Blood Connection mobile unit is returning to our upper parking lot from 9:30am to 2pm on October 14^th. All donors will receive an e-gift card.

Prescheduling is encouraged. Go to the Blood Connection website or contact the church office.

Fellowship Meal - Sunday, October 15

During worship on Sunday, October 15^th, we will be celebrating Communion. It is a Hillside tradition that whenever we celebrate Communion, also known as the Lord’s Supper, together, we share a meal. Please plan on joining us by bringing a covered dish to share. Come to worship, then stay for the Fellowship Meal that will occur right after.

Set-up and kitchen clean-up assistance is needed. Contact the church office if you are willing to help (919)967-3056.

Next Food Distributions - October 7 & 21 from 11am to 12pm

Our next Food Distributions will be October 7 & 21 at our usual time from 11am to 12pm.

HELP KEEP IT GOING!

Volunteer for one or more of the drive-through food distributions. Many opportunities are available.
Donate groceries, we are collecting dry and canned goods. Go to the church website for a more detailed list. Please check the ’sell by’ dates when donating. There is a collection shed outside the church entryway where you can leave your donations.

To volunteer, please use our online Community Sign Up Genius Form. If you have any questions, please contact Candy or Diane.

New Online Giving Page Is Here!

Hillside has a new and improved online giving page! Vanco, our eGiving provider, has updated their online giving platform to make it easier than ever to make one-time gifts or set up recurring donations to our church.

The new page is live on our site now. Nothing about our online giving has changed except the look of the page. You can adjust existing donations, set up new gifts and update personal information from the new Vanco Online.

HOW DO I SIGN UP WITH VANCO ONLINE?

It’s easy! If you’re a new giver to Hillside, visit our website to create a Vanco Online account. From there, you can read more about our mission and give to our ministries.

If you already have a Vanco account, you can log in using the same user name and password as before. To do this, visit our online giving page. From there you can update scheduled donations or set up new recurring gifts by clicking “Profile” and then “View Scheduled Donations.”
