“Being Present, Loving What Is”

The Rev. Julie Stoneberg

On this Father’s Day, let’s just bask in the presence of summer days…days that can bring us together with friends and family…days spent out of doors…days kicking back and relaxing. Now’s a great time to restore our hearts and our souls.

Our theme for June is the Gift of Renewal. Music Director Ruben Piirainen provides restorative music.

Memorial Service for

Darryl and Beverly Boyer

Saturday, June 15, 2 pm

Darryl Boyer passed away on March 16, 2024, at the age of 87. Beverly died in 2015, but because no memorial service was held then, the family has chosen to remember both of them at this service.

Darryl and Beverly came to UUCW with their 2 children, Lynn and Sarah, in 1970. They were both attorneys and were active in the church throughout the 1970’s, 80’s and 90’s, and into the 2000’s as their health permitted. They are survived by their 2 children and 4 grandchildren. All are welcome to attend.

General Assembly 2024

June 20-23

In a world filled with division and challenges, the theme for this year's General Assembly is a powerful reminder of the core principles that unite us as Unitarian Universalists. "Love Unites, Stories Ignite" celebrates the profound impact of love as a binding force that transcends boundaries and fosters connections within our faith community and beyond.

SEE PROGRAM OFFERINGS

This year's GA is all virtual. You can attend the business sessions without registering; to have access to all of the programming, you must register. Financial support is available through the UUA or by speaking to Rev. Jullan

General Assembly Watch Parties!

As you may have heard, there is big business at General Assembly this year, and the business general sessions are available for viewing for all...and registration for all of GA is not required. We plan to make these sessions available to watch together at UUCW.

Come watch with Rev. Jullan and our delegates as we consider the important proposed changes in our principles and values statements.

Safety and Security at UUCW

With this summer’s numerous severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings, have you wondered “where is UUCW’s shelter?” What if there was a fire, do you know where the Assembly Points are? And do you know where the AED is and when and how to use it?

UUCW’s new Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) has the answers to these questions.

LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR EOP

A hearty "THANK YOU" is extended to David Gross and his team for their great aerial performance on June 4th as they mounted ladders and completed the installation of the Gutter Glove screening on the west and south sides of the sanctuary. This donation of services from Gross Property Inspection was greatly appreciated and saved UUCW hundreds of dollars.

LIVING OUR VALUES

MICAH Congregations get First Access to tickets for the We All Belong Rally for Democracy. Tickets are $5 each.

The Rally is Sunday, July 14, on the eve of the Republican National Convention held in Milwaukee. The purpose is to proclaim MICAH’s values, likely very different from the values that will be offered at the convention. We’ll provide for car-pooling from UUCW, thanks to Joyce Cable! The Rally will feature national speakers: Rev. Al Sharpton, Amanda Tyler, Rev. Bryan Massingale, and Rev. Jim Wallis.

WHAT'S NEEDED IN JUNE?

LEARNING & FELLOWSHIP

Visit the UUCW Library in June to find books on

June's Soul Matters theme, "The Gift of Renewal."

In addition, be sure to check out the Pride Month display on top of the cabinet. There are books on LGBTQ+ issues and history including three new books, one of which focuses on Milwaukee.

Religion and faith. Related topics but not necessarily the same –even though some folks use them synonymously.

What is religion and what is its purpose? Is faith simply adherence to doctrines or is there something more fundamental involved? It may be that on some level we all have faith –or maybe not.

Join the Topics in Liberal Christian Thought group for a de-construction of religion and faith on June 20 at 10:30 am at UUCW.

Rescheduled Twisted Stitchers

The next Twisted Stitchers meeting will be on Saturday June 22 (4th Saturday of the month) instead of June 15 (third Saturday of the month).

Also, we’ll start at 12:00 noon because the General Assembly will have an important vote at 1:30 pm that some members may wish to view. If you can’t come until 1:00, no problem. We’ll still be there!

Summer RE is HERE!

Religious Education opportunities continue here at UUCW through the summer whenever Sunday morning worship service is held.

Nursery care for children up to age 5 will be planned, starting at 9:45am.

UU Play! for ages 5-12+ will typically start after the initial Worship for All Ages segment.

Visitors welcome. Children/youth who registered during the ’23-24 church year do not need to re-register for summer.
