Dear Friends,

Despite the winter weather that’s sticking around, the calendar says it’s spring. That means extra daylight, trees and flowers in bloom, more time outdoors, and even some spring cleaning! Spring also means…

S Support. The Charity is here to serve families 24/7/365 and we are able to sustain that because we have tremendous support from our community.

P People. We are surrounded by compassionate, generous people who believe in our Mission and help in so many ways.

R Rest. We all need it, and we all deserve it. Take a moment to rest. Whatever that might look like to you. When we rest, we recharge and we’re more resilient. So rest! It’s good for you.

I In-person. We continue to welcome groups and individuals to volunteer at the Houses, making an impact on our families’ stays.

N New. New blooms on trees, new changes to our Houses, new partners joining us in our work---there is so much new to celebrate and enjoy.

G Gratitude. I can’t possibly sign off without expressing how grateful I am to be part of this organization and all that it stands for. You are making a difference.

Take Care,
Eleanor B. Reigel, MPH

Reasons to Smile
We’re never short on Reasons to Smile. Here are a few recent examples of the compassion shown by the community…
Helping to keep a safe and healthy home for RMHC families, Teletech awarded Ronald McDonald House Morgantown a grant to purchase mattresses, box springs, and pillow protectors.
The students at Upper St. Clair Boyce Middle School are making a difference for families at RMHC Pittsburgh and Morgantown. Wanting to “Restock the Pantry,” they collected granola bars, microwavable meals, individual snacks, and individual cereals. In addition, they raised nearly $3,000 from a Valentine's sale.
Catelynn's Kindness and Grandpa Joe's Candy Shop surprised families with a colorful VW Bus-themed candy bar filled with all of the best nostalgic candy a kid (or adult!) could dream of!

Catelynn’s Kindness was formed when Catelynn’s friends and family joined together to share her dedication to kindness and her love of treats and motto of treating yourself! Catelynn's Kindness encourages kind gestures to remind people to laugh, enjoy a treat and share light with others.
Thanks to our friends at Aldi for awarding a generous grant to the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, ensuring families in underserved communities in the Greater Pittsburgh Region have access to pediatric care.
RMHC of Pittsburgh and Morgantown was chosen as the 2022-2023 Pennsylvania DECA state Charity! DECA strives to prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. With over 5,000 student members in the state, each Chapter came up with creative ways to collect funds and pull tabs to support the families here! The Charity was presented with a check for $13,000!
Jamie Bordas, Managing Partner of Bordas and Bordas Law Firm, was featured on Pittsburgh Today Live, sharing his involvement with supporting RMHC families. For eight years, the law firm has hosted the Sacks for Kids program, donating $500 for every sack the Steelers make in a season. This generous initiative has raised more than $248,000 for the Charity! See the interview here.
Big Mac Open Celebrates 30 years
Raising more than $1million for RMHC families since its inception, the Big Mac Open will celebrate its 30th golf outing on Monday, June 19th at Valley Brook Country Club. The impact of this event has supported thousands of families traveling for medical care. Thank you to the many mission partners and participants who have given and continue to give families a place to call home by supporting this special event.
What our Partners are Saying...
We at Keurig Dr Pepper are thankful for our ongoing relationship with the Ronald McDonald Houses of Pittsburgh and Morgantown. Supporting this chapter along with many others across the US is one of the easiest decisions we get to make. The healing they enable by providing a home away from home during such a difficult time is critically important and aligns with our values at KDP. We look forward to many more years of supporting their efforts.

We’ve got exciting news! Howard Hanna Insurance Services won a Make More Happen Award for their work with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh and Morgantown. The award has earned a $5,000 donation for the Charity from Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance with the potential of doubling that to $10,000. When the Charity’s story receives 500 votes, the additional $5,000 will be awarded.
