Westside Meet and Greet with Denver District Attorney Candidate

As the June 25th election grew closer, Agudah held a second community Meet & Greet with Denver District Attorney candidate Leora Joseph. Hosted at the Steinharter's home, community members had the opportunity to learn about Leora and her vision for the city. Even more importantly, participants learned how important their voice can be in fighting antisemitism and crime.

While candidate John Walsh won the primary election and we look forward to working with him on these important issues, we thank Leora, a strong candidate for fighting crime, for taking the time to interact with the community and listen to our concerns.

Attendees not only walked away with an appreciation for what the DA's office represents but were also galvanized into action to join the Agudah Get out the Vote efforts by encouraging others to vote in the various primary elections.

Agudah Reaches All Sides of Denver in Getting Out the Vote

The most recent election season, culminating with the primary election on June 25th, featured several key races that affect the Jewish community. To get out the vote, Agudah teamed up with young professionals, families, advocacy groups, government agencies, rabbonim, and community leaders, spearheading a newfound level of community involvement in the election.

In one example of city-wide collaboration, Agudah held voting stands in all four areas of Denver's community; the southeast, eastside, westside, and Aurora, creating a space for people to drop off their ballots, register to vote, and ask their voting questions.

These efforts resulted in people registering to vote, voting for the first time, and taking an active interest in the election, paving the road for a stronger Jewish voice going forward.

Colorado will distribute $120 per eligible child through the new Summer EBT program

This summer, Colorado is beginning a new program called Summer EBT to provide nutritious food to eligible children during the summer months when they are not in school.

The eligibility guidelines may include students whose families participate in SNAP, Colorado Works, or Medicaid. Those families will automatically receive an EBT card with $120 per eligible child for the summer, as long as their case has the family's current address on file.
