On February 1st, coaches, volunteers and participants shared inspiration through picture and video. We are committed to helping curtail the steep drop off of female participants after the age of 12 and we are fortunate to have strong female role models that encourage our youth athletes to keep playing sports. A Note From The Executive Director |

2022 produced one of the proudest moments of my personal life. My wife and I welcomed our first child in September and our world has been turned upside down in a good way. I was fortunate enough to have some time off to spend with my wife and my daughter. During that time, between feedings, naps and cleaning, I took some time to catch up on television shows and movies that I had on my queue for the past few years. One of the movies that really resonated with me was, "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood".

Spring recreational evaluations continue on March 12th. As a reminder, all players in the 8U - 14U divisions are encouraged to evaluate. The SignUp Genius for March 12th can be found here. Please check back often for spots that open up due to cancellations and do not take a spot for a different age group if yours is full. Previous seasons' data will be utilized to place players who do not evaluate.

Mark your calendar: The first practice is Monday, April 10th, at Riverside Intermediate/Junior High. We will be having our parent/guardian meeting during the first Saturday practice on April 15th at 10 a.m. Find the spring season practice and meet schedule (including events) here.

Referee training class: Taking place on March 18th from 1 - 4 p.m. at Sand Creek Intermediate, this training is open to those age 12+ and is a great opportunity for kids to get their feet wet serving as a referee our 3rd - 6th grade games. Registration remains open for our boys volleyball skills clinic plus intramural-style league for 5th/6th and 7th/8th grade divisions at myathletics.com.
Volunteer March Madness Event: March 14th from 6 - 8 p.m. in the Community Room at Billericay Park. Join us for a fun evening as we continue to grow our offerings and volunteer base for 2023. We'll have pizza, refreshments and we will be watching the opening games of this year's NCAA tournament. Discussion will include plans for a high school co-ed division, novel Rec Plus program and any ideas to benefit our youth who love playing or are eager to play for the first time.

Congratulations to all of the girls who shined on the courts during recreational play this winter.
The final games for the kindergarten/1st grade division take place today, February 25th. Our 2nd - 6th graders will kick off tournament play on March 4th with championship games the weekend of March 11th. The season ending tournament for our 7th/8th grade division will be held exclusively on March 4th.

The final games for the K/1st grade divisions will take place today, February 25th. Our 2nd - 6th graders will begin tournament play on March 4th with the championship games the weekend of March 11th. The season ending tournament for our 7th/8th grade division will kick off on February 25th.
We look forward to seeing and hearing everyone cheer on their players during the upcoming tournament. Thank you for teaching good sportsmanship!
All-Stars, for grades 2nd - 6th, will begin practice on March 14th.

Jason Callahan - Boys Basketball
Our December Dick's Sporting Goods Volunteer of the Month, Jason Callahan, uses his many talents serving in the roles of secretary, communication's director, rec plus commissioner, volunteer recruitment coordinator and coach for Mudsock Boys Basketball. You'll also find him coaching at Mudsock Fields during football season. He's ultra organized, witty and inspires kids (and adults) to be their best.

Skii Ficklin - Girls Lacrosse
Our January Dick's Sporting Goods Volunteer of the Month, Skii Ficklin, has gone around the world and back supporting Mudsock Girls Lacrosse in both the treasurer role and now as president. Last month, she led the effort, introducing lacrosse to new females in the community to continue to grow the league. She's a great mentor to the players in the program!
