July 2024 News & Notes

The November 8th Heart of North Texas Committee has begun planning for this year’s event. If you are interested in being a part of the committee, reach out to Kathryn Rotter, Chair or Craig Hulse / RaDonna Hessel as co-chairs. Whether it is inputting ideas of speakers or helping out the day of the event, we’d love to have you involved.

While the details are still coming together, it is very exciting to share a sneak peek at two of the speakers (not sure if I am supposed to tell – so sorry Kathryn this is an ask forgiveness afterwards!).   The keynote luncheon speaker will be Brigadier General (Ret) Joseph Rameriz who serves as the Vice President For Student Affairs of Texas A&M University. Not only does he have a great background, but he will also share several stories and advice he gives to the cadets and others on building a positive “TEAM” and future.

Our other confirmed speaker is Monica Paul with the Dallas Sports Commission. Her name, if not familiar now, will become very familiar to you by 2026. She is leading the group that not only secured the FIFA World Cup for the DFW region, but will be coordinating the many aspects that will need to come together to show the world that not only did we deserve nine games, DFW should have gotten the finals! She will share how she is working to create a “TEAM” from multiple organizations, cities and agencies to showcase our region to the world. She will also share how you can be involved as a “TEAM” member! (Are you getting the theme??!!)

Details of sponsorship, full agenda with speakers and the “theme” will be out in the next month or so, but in the meantime, make sure you have November 8, 8:00 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. at the Hurst Conference Center on your calendar. Thanks to everyone who is serving to coordinate this year’s exciting event!

In the meantime, we look forward to seeing you at the next NLF Breakfast on August 13 at the Hurst Conference Center!

Chairman’s Notes:

The Board met in June, and had a report of the creation of the new NLF website (thanks to Eli Mercer and his committee). There are just a few tweaks to be made before we have it go live and share it with you.

And believe it or not, a nominating committee has been appointed to begin the process of selecting the new board members for 2025. Per the organization’s by-laws, the committee will be chaired by Craig Hulse as the Chair-Elect. Others on the nominating committee include Kathryn Rotter, Randy McCauley, Trasa Cobern, Mary Frazior and as the 2024 Chair, I will serve as an ex-officio member of the group. If you are interested in serving on the NLF Board, please reach out to any of the committee listed and let us know of your interest.

I also want to make sure to thank the Board “Team” who have worked with me so far this year. It has been education, entertaining, fun and a pleasure to serve the first six months of the year with each of them. I look forward to seeing all that they accomplish in the last half of 2024!

If you have any comments, questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to myself or any of the NLF Board members. We look forward to continuing to work with you and for you in 2024 – One Degree at a Time!

Be Safe & Be Kind (because life's too short to be otherwise!),
