NLF Awards Luncheon – TEAMWORK: We Win Together!!

Wednesday, April 25th at the Hurst Conference Center we all celebrated Mayor Linda Martin as this year’s Distinguished Leadership Award! It was a special opportunity to learn about all that makes up her past which in turn created the amazing community leader that she is. Once again – Congratulations Mayor Martin!!!

This year’s NLF Awards luncheon was chaired by Chelsea Rose, with the City of Colleyville. She and her small but might team, we able to create a fun and well-planned event! Next time you see Chelsea, give her a “Hey Ohh” and a hug to thank her for all of her efforts!!! Besides our Chief Party Planner Chelsea Rose, thanks are also shared with Mary Frazior-HEB Chamber, Trasa Coburn-6 Stones, Ryan Tiglas-Paycom and John Fletcher-Fletcher Consulting. They’ve did a lot of work to make this event happen and run smoothly!

We also need to thank all of the communities and businesses who sponsored this event. They are each special in that they get involved and create partnerships that make a difference for our businesses and community. They are a reason “We Win Together”

May 7 NLF Breakfast – Add it to your Calendar Today!

It is now tine to look forward and make your reservations for the NLF May 7th Breakfast. We are excited to continue the tradition (well, we did it last year and we are doing it again, so a two year tradition) of hosting the recipients of the NLF Foundation Scholarship winners, giving out $47,259 this year to 29 students – thanks to those of you who support the Annual Awards Luncheon and the Heart of North Texas, along with the Hamm Foundation!

This year we will also have Brian Dameris from the Dallas Mavericks Broadcast fame speaking to the students about setting their sight on their goal – and going for it using his path as a great example of “if you have a will, there is a way”! His journey can also be inspirational to every business leader in the room.

This is a “feel good” breakfast that reminds us of the phenomenal opportunity in our region with these future leaders for our business and our communities. You will not want to miss it so put May 7th, 7:45 a.m. on your calendar and make plans to attend this NLF Breakfast at the Hurst Conference Center. And thank you to our sponsor – Great Plains Bank!

Chairman's Notes

Not only did we recognize Mayor Linda Martin at our Awards Luncheon, but we also took the opportunity to present Past Chair Eli Mercer with a gift and our thanks for serving this organization in 2023. And one of his priorities was to work on a New Northeast Leadership Forum WEBSITE! Be watching for a notice in the very near future to go online and see a new and improved website. Several members of the NLF have been working on this project for the last year, and their efforts will be celebrated soon! Thanks to Eli, Kathryn Rotter, Trasa Coburn, Mike Taylor (and others I am sure I am missing)!!! Once again – thank you Eli for your sharing your time and talents to help build our organization and region!

Eli Mercer 2023 NLF Chair

Another surprise recognition for the event was to thank Randy Clinton for his eight years of service to the NLF as our Chair of the Awards Luncheon. As anyone who has done a major event knows, it is time commitment and a tremendous effort to plan, coordinate and gather all that needs to be done before, during and after an awards luncheon. Randy always had a strong but mighty team, but he kept it together and helped these luncheons grow each year. Thanks Randy for all you’ve done!

We also took the time to thank Jean Ann Hamm and Charlie Powell for their continued commitment with their 5th CONSECUTIVE YEAR of the Nancy and Alan Hamm Foundation providing a generous matching gift of $22,000 in scholarships to graduating high school seniors from Northeast Tarrant County.

If you have any comments, questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to myself or any of the NLF Board members. We look forward to continuing to work with you and for you in 2024 – One Degree at a Time!

Be Safe & Be Kind (because life's too short to be otherwise!),
