NOTE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
World Class Schools for Our Students:
Welcome New Teachers and Staff
Welcome to our new certified teachers and new district staff members! We are thrilled to have you join our outstanding group of Norwalk teachers and staff! On behalf of the Norwalk CSD, we hope you have a great year as a new Warrior!

The start of a new school year brings many exciting opportunities for our district to grow. At this time, Norwalk Schools currently has multiple positions to fill that will help to better serve our students and families. The biggest areas of support that we are currently seeing a growing need for are paraeducators, substitute teachers, coaching positions and various support staff openings. All of these openings help our district ensure that our schools run effectively, safely and allow for our students to receive the support they need to achieve academic success.

To view open positions on our district website, please visit our Human Resources page for more information.

Yours in service,
D.T. Magee
Norwalk Welcomes New Teachers
by Shelly Vroegh, TLC & Mentoring Programs Coordinator

The 2021-2022 school year finds new faces in our district as we welcomed twenty-two new teachers on August 11th! The day started with a breakfast sponsored by the Norwalk Student Education Foundation which featured welcoming remarks from Katie Weldon, the 2021 Norwalk Teacher of the Year, Ashline Bussanmas, NHS Student Body President, and Claire Norem, a student leader from Lakewood Elementary. We are excited to have this group of innovative and creative educators join us in Norwalk and we look forward to having them in the classroom fostering learning and growth in our students as we live out the mission: Growing Learners and Leaders. Welcome to our newest Warriors!

Norwalk Wall of Fame Installation

For Immediate Release: The Norwalk Community School District along with the Norwalk Wall of Fame Committee are proud to announce that the new Norwalk Wall of Fame has officially been installed in our secondary campus just down the hallway from our Norwalk Performing Arts Center! We are thrilled that students, staff and visitors can now view our first installment of 2021 Wall of Fame inductees: Merle Huff, Andy Fox and Denny Wulf. A special thank you to our Wall of Fame donors who made this project possible: the Tom McLaughlin Family and The Norwalk Student Education Foundation.

“Norwalk is home to some amazing alumni and staff! Our District is honored to have outstanding inductees now memorialized in our new Wall of Fame. Congratulations again to our 2021 inductees who are the first to receive this notable recognition! Our hope and vision for this wall is that it will continue to inspire our students and staff for generations to come!”

“I would like to thank the Norwalk Wall of Fame Committee who helped serve this past year to make this project possible. It has been a long time coming to have a Wall of Fame installed at Norwalk Schools and we are so proud to see it come to completion. To continue to grow our wall, we ask for the community’s help in submitting nominations each year by going to the Norwalk CSD website! Thank you for your help in identifying some of Norwalk’s most outstanding alumni!” – Tom McLaughlin, Committee Chair and Visionary of the Wall of Fame

Meal Assistance Waiver Due Sept. 30th
DeeAnna Serres, Nutrition Program Director

The USDA has extended the opportunity for school nutrition programs to participate in a nationwide waiver that provides every student in grades K-12 in Norwalk Community School District a free breakfast meal and free lunch meal each school day in the cafeteria. Only the complete meal (which must meet USDA School Meal Regulations) will be free. This is an average yearly lunch money savings to parents of $500 per student. Meals are available to all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination during meal service. If your student brings a meal from home, and only wants a carton of milk, that will be available for purchase at .50 cents each. Please make sure there are funds added to each of your student’s accounts for milk purchases.

* A friendly reminder that families need to complete the fee waiver prior to 9/30 if they qualify for meal assistance.

*Supply chain disruptions continue to impact food service industries and may result in sudden menu changes.
