We are now almost 6" above normal rain levels here in North Texas.

The extreme storms and heavy rains can

negatively impact our local produce.

Last year at this time we were praying for rain and cooler weather. This year our

crops could use a break from the rain!

We are a rain or shine market but will close if conditions are dangerous (lightning, hail or high winds). If it's raining or the forecast

calls for storms, it's always good to check our website or Facebook page to

make sure we're open before heading

to the market on Saturday morning.

This Saturday our produce vendors (Fisher Family Farm and Ranch and Stout Creek Farm) will be back at the market. Both missed last week's market due to illness.

You asked: TotallyzNutz will be back with their very addictive and great smelling nuts! The Best Fudge Ever will also return to the market with their creamy, all organic fudge.

AND Bonnie Jean's Preserves and Bread will return on Saturday.

Fun, Local, Farm Grown Food and Healthy Living

This Week's Featured Vendor:

Stout Creek Farm

In 2018 Brent Barry and Susan Cox took the leap to ranching and farming on 600 acres in Northeast Texas. Leaving city life behind, they are dedicated to healing their land and raising the very best food from it.

To achieve their goals, Susan and Brent practice regenerative agriculture. They focus on the following:

Good Life

"The good life for us consists of values such as self-care, spiritual fitness, integrity, community, courage, gratitude and joy. We are a family that has experienced chronic illness, addiction and other mental health issues, therefore the “good life” must come first for us. The values of “good life” are woven into the way we care for each other, the way we tend the earth, and the way we farm." Said Susan.

Good Earth

"Our goal is to not only leave our land better than we found it but to also do our part to reverse climate change. Therefore, we prioritize farm biodiversity as well as sequester carbon back into the soil, regenerating soil organic matter. This is accomplished by mimicking the movements of nature from bygone eras. There was a time many years ago when the animals followed one another across the prairie each doing their job to take care of the earth. We mimic this by rotating our animals so that cows, goats, chickens, turkeys and sheep follow each other throughout the land creating a symphony of ecological abundance." Said Brent.

Good Food

"We believe that the better the food our animals get, the better the food you get. The way we aspire to care for the earth allows our animals to eat in the most natural way possible. We also use no pesticides and feed only top quality non-GMO grain (the cows and sheep are completely grass fed/grass finished.)

There is growing evidence that the best quality product, whether meat or eggs, is produced by keeping the animals in a low stress environment. We endeavor to see our farm from the point of view of the animals we are raising and create an atmosphere that is as stress free as possible." Said Susan.

At their booth at the market, Stout Creek Farm offers fresh from the field produce and meat including beef, lamb, and chicken. They also offer pastured eggs.

During the holidays they will have heritage turkeys.

To find out what Stout Creek is harvesting, go to the Contact Page on their website which lists the harvest each week.

"We love having visitors to come see our happy animals and learn about our regenerative farming practices." Said Susan.

Recipe of the Week

Garlic Prawns and Pasta

Here's a great way to use your pasta from Lucido's special this week!

You can substitute shrimp

for prawns.

And I always use fettuccini instead of spaghetti.

I think it holds up better against the strong flavors.
