MEMBER NEWS AND EVENTS
RAVENNA, OH – United Way of Portage County (UWPC) will kick off their annual campaign on October 6th, 2021. The 2021-2022 Campaign Kickoff event – Unite at the Drive-In - at Midway Drive-In in Ravenna! The event will feature stories of community impact, United Way community funded partners, live music by The LRB, fireworks, and the showing of movies Space Jam and A League of Their Own.
 
Join United Way between 6pm and 10pm on Wednesday, October 6th for a fun, family-friendly event. UWPC will show a short video of their services to the residents of Portage County over the past year and how you can help support your neighbors in Portage County. The event tickets are available at www.uwportage.org for $10 donation per car. The event is open to the public. Attendees will enjoy snacks prepared by culinary staff at NEOMED’s The New Center, raffle baskets, 50/50 raffle and choice of movie.
 
United Way of Portage County (UWPC) partners with 41 programs to provide services to families and individuals throughout Portage County. “Our community is stronger when we lift up those around us who are in need and an inclusive community will always be a stronger community” said Craig Holcomb, UWPC 2021 Campaign Chair and Vice President of Operations Supports at Davey Tree Expert Company. “That is the purpose and the history of United Way. It’s why United Way of Portage County has existed for the past 50 years, so please join us at Campaign Kickoff.”

Assistant Store Manager in a bustling gift shop and coffee bar at Aurora Farms.

This gift shop is home to more than 75 Ohio small businesses. The right candidate will have a passion for crafting or making and have a love for entrepreneurs and small business. This position will require you to be a cashier and barista, as well as stock, straighten and face displays. You will interact with customers and help them with their questions regarding merchandise.

There is potential for advancement in the future.

Must have a minimum of three years retail management experience, must be available weekends and must be 18+

Responsibilities:
• Opening and closing the store.
• Making sure that the store is always clean and properly organized
• Attending to customer requests or inquiries in the store
• Collaborate with ownership on setting and achieving goals
• Submit purchase orders for inventory based on current levels, availability of new products and customer interest
• Display merchandise to maximize purchasing appeal
• Organize sales and product demonstrations
• Interact with customers and resolve complaints or grievances

Skills and Qualifications
• Excellent organizational skills
• Basic computer skills
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Superior attention to details
• Inventory management history
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead staff, help customers and work with upper management
• Great customer service skills, including patience and active listening, to ensure customers feel heard and helped
• Presentation skills and knowledge of best visual and marketing display practices
• Conflict management skills to resolve customer issues effectively
• Exceptional time management skills to set realistic deadlines and follow specific steps to reach time-sensitive objectives
• In-depth knowledge of the store’s merchandise, its exact location, and its prices

The Portage County Safety Council FY21 Virtual Safety Council program meets on Zoom every 2nd & 4th Thursday of the month (except for the holidays), 11:00am-12:00pm.
