Summer 2023 - Intern Artwork

Dear LongBeach,

Our LAMP Summer 2023 internship was truly remarkable. It was a pleasure to mentor and work with such a dedicated, innovative, and gifted group of youth.

The summer internship offered instruction in Film/TV Production, Graphic Design, Music Production, and Photography. Each art group was tasked with completing a set of discipline-related projects by the end of their internship. Every LAMP session also focuses on a social conscience theme, which allows our interns to add their own meaning and actively engage with the content to promote leadership, creativity, and the overall confidence needed to achieve their goals. The theme for this summer's internship was "Be the Change," with the full phrase being "Be the change you wish to see in the world." We used this theme to highlight the importance of proactivity and impact of leading by example.

The meaning behind "Be the Change" is extremely fitting to the philosophy of LAMP. The phrase urges us to look within ourselves and recognize the potential we all hold to create positive shifts in our communities. It is a call-to-action, a reminder that we are not passive observers but active agents capable of effecting meaningful change. At the heart of "Be the Change" lies the idea that small actions can lead to monumental impacts.

Public Service Announcements

Our LAMP Film/TV Production interns created two PSAs, one about showing your true colors and the other with an anti-vaping message.

Short Film - Corn Crash

For their short film project, our LAMP Film/TV Production interns created Corn Crash, the story of a UFO crash in a corn field and an alien's journey to return home before being discovered.

Music Video - Be the Change

As an interdisciplinary project, our LAMP Music Production interns collaborated with the Film/TV Production interns to create a music video based on the music group's original song, "Be the Change."

Los Angeles County is known for its great year-round weather, but the heat can be unpleasant when temperatures increase during the summer months. Use the cooling sites to prepare and stay safe during periods of excessive heat.
