Dear Parents and Guardians:
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! Our first week is underway. Each grade level participated in a class meeting, designed to reinforce academic and behavioral expectations . Already, students are acclimating themselves well to another new school year, and demonstrating exemplary behavior.
As educational practitioners, we understand we are only one piece of the puzzle and believe that a strong home-school connection has a direct impact on student achievement. We consider it vital to work collaboratively with parents/guardians to contribute to the overall achievement of each student as they become independent, lifelong learners. As partners, we encourage you to support your student in the educational process. Studies show that parental involvement in a student’s education is one of the most important factors in raising student self-esteem and academic achievement. Please take the time to review our class meeting 10-12th grade slideshow linked here and 9th grade slideshow linked here.
As you have discussions throughout the year, encourage your student to stay focused on attendance, complete homework in a timely fashion, and become involved in activities, clubs, and/or athletics during the course of the year.
We are excited to begin the 2023-2024 school year with inspiration, excitement, and purpose.
Ms. Mongan 10-12 Principal
Mr. Ruffolo NGC Principal
Ms. Leannais 10th grade Associate Principal
Mrs. Pecha 11th grade Associate Principal
Mr. Lataille 12th grade Associate Principal

Cell Phone Policy Defined
During class meetings in the PAEC/ NGC Gym, all Oak Creek High School students received instruction at the beginning of the school year as to what appropriate personal electronic device use and etiquette is within the confines of Oak Creek High School.
Students may use their personal electronic devices for personal use at these times:
As a general rule, all students are expected to turn their personal electronic devices off when entering a classroom and place them in their backpack or cell phone caddy.
Cell Phone/Electronic Devices 23-24
Student Tardiness Defined
Students arriving late to school, without a prior phone call from a parent/guardian, are considered tardy-unexcused. Students must report directly to the attendance clerk where they will be issued an unexcused tardy pass to class. If a student comes to school after his/her first hour class, the student will be considered absent from those classes missed, as well as tardy for the class in session when he/she arrives.
Class Tardiness Defined
A student without a pass will be considered tardy to class after the final bell rings. If a student is more than 15 minutes tardy to a class, they will be considered an unexcused absence from that class period.
Tardy Procedures 2023-24
Fighting
Fighting of any kind (this includes pushing/shoving, play fighting or horse play) is not tolerated. Students engaging in a physical altercation are subject to disciplinary action in accordance with the school handbook policies (pg. 41-45), up to and including arrest, citations, and pre-expulsion.
Dress Code
It is the expectation that students dress appropriately for the school environment. The following items should not be worn to school:
- hats/hoods during the school day,
- clothing that depicts drugs/alcohol/sexual innuendo
- revealing clothing (male or female) such as short shorts, tops exposing a bare midriff or shoulders
Student Expectations and Consequences are aligned to the Knight Code. Discipline is progressive, includes a reteaching component and parent involvement in the process. Teachers will often reach out via email or a phone call home regarding behaviors. Administration and Deans will also use email notification of referrals and phone calls for repeated behaviors or those behaviors that are more significant.

Artificial Intelligence Applications
New technologies continue to be developed including Artificial Intelligence Applications. OCHS has included the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in its Academic Misconduct portion of the Student and Family Handbook (p.33) Artificial Intelligence applications are not allowed to be used on homework assignments, assessments, projects, etc. Teachers will provide specific information in course syllabi and in class regarding different checkers used, how to turn in written assignments, etc. Students found using AI when submitting assignments will have consequences assigned in alignment with the disciplinary matrix (p. 41).

Social Media Safety Reminder
Parents and guardians should be aware of Saturn, a new app that seeks to connect students based on their class schedule and other school activities. Saturn is not affiliated with Oak Creek High School or the OCFSD in any way. Students have the ability to share their class schedules and activities through the app in order to connect with other students. However, anyone who downloads the app can register and join a school community network using just an email address, phone number or snapchat account. Please remind your student about the dangers of sharing information via social media and other online platforms and the importance of keeping personal information private.

Open House
Open House is Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 5:30- 7:30 pm. The format is a “meet and greet”. Parents will not follow a “schedule,” as many families have students in both buildings. Please visit Infinite Campus prior to arriving so that you know which teachers to visit. Teachers will provide information about classes (ex: syllabus, brochures, flyers, etc.).
Student Services will hold a Dual Enrollment Presentation during Open House at 5:45 & 6:45 pm in the Little Theater. Students interested in earning college credit while in high school should attend the meeting to learn more about Start College Now (credits at technical colleges), Early College Credit (credits at 4 year colleges), CAPP (credits through UW-Oshkosh) and the Dual Enrollment Academy (at MATC).

Parking Permits
There are still some Student Parking Permits available for the 23-24 school year. Students should complete the appropriate Google Form (linked below).
This will enter the student into the system for a permit. Once forms below are completed, students can pay for and pick up a permit. These are distributed on a first come, first served basis until we are sold out.
There are 3 Student Parking Lots. Parking Lots A & B will be separated by grade level, spots in Lot C will be sold once spots in Lot A & B are filled.
All student parking spots are assigned, permit number matches the spot number. Our goal is to provide safe parking on our campus where both your child and vehicle are safe while they attend school.
Please note the following if you are interested in purchasing a parking permit:
- A student may not have outstanding Student Fees if they would like to purchase a parking permit. Outstanding fees need to be paid or have a payment plan in place with the OCHS book keeper.
- Students holding parking permits are subject to Random Drug Testing (see policy and consent form below). Students and parents are required to sign the consent form AND the medical release form before being issued a permit.
- Early Graduates will have the opportunity to purchase a Semester 1 ONLY Parking Permit. The cost of a one semester permit is $55. Full year permits are $110.
- Students must have a current, valid driver’s license in order to purchase a permit. Permits will not be sold to students who only have a temporary permit.
- Please review the Rules and Regulations for parking in a school lot.
- There are NOT enough student parking spaces to accommodate ALL student drivers. Street parking is available on most surrounding streets. Parking in the lots of area businesses (Pick n’ Save, OC Community Center, etc.) is NOT suggested. These businesses have the right to tow unauthorized cars parked in their lots.
