On Tuesday, April 30th, our 8th grade students traveled to Raleigh. They attended Mass at the Cathedral with our Bishop. Other 8th grade students from the Diocese of Raleigh were also present. They all enjoyed this wonderful opportunity!

Volleyball Clinic Success!

Thank you to Mrs. Martin and Mrs. Ortiz for volunteering to hold the volleyball clinic. We had an amazing turnout earlier this week.. Due to the tremendous amount of interest (we had 44 attendees yesterday), we will be dividing the group for the remaining two sessions. The May 9 session will be for 6th and 7th graders only. The May 14 session will be for 4th and 5th graders only.

Blessed Sacrament School Art Walk!

Last Thursday, May 2nd, we celebrated our Annual Art Walk! Mrs. Lee presented all of our students' art work around the perimeter of our main campus's back lawn. Congratulations to the students who won an award!

We would like to send a special thanks to all of our students and parent volunteers & the Knights of Columbus who made the art walk evening possible! Thank you for your support! 💙💛

Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week will be celebrated nationally during the week of May 6th - May 10th. This perfect time to show appreciation with kind words, thoughtful letters, or a small gift. While teachers don't expect anything from students and parents, they always enjoy a small surprise!

At BSS, we were not able to secure a Teacher Appreciation Week committee this year. Due to this, there will not be a school-wide celebration. Many of our Class Captains will be making plans for their homerooms.

If you would like to show your appreciation to our teachers and staff, here is some helpful information:

Contracts for the Upcoming School Year

By now, all of our BSS Families should have received a re-enrollment agreement from our admissions office. If your family is NOT waiting to hear from a scholarship, please sign your re-enrollment agreement ASAP.

If your family has not received a re-enrollment agreement yet, or not planning to return to BSS, please contact Mr. Rico ASAP to let us know at admissions@bssknights.org. Thank you for choosing BSS!

PreK Parents: Save the Date May 30th!

Save the date of May 30th for our end-of-the-year party. The party is planned for City Park from 10 am to Noon. We do not have school on May 30th. We will meet parents and students at the park. Parents are expected to chaperone their child. Parents who are unable to attend can ask another adult (grandparent, sibling over 16, babysitter, friend, etc.) to take on that responsibility prior to the day of the event. If you have any questions please let me know.

Sincerely,

Driver's Education-Dear 8th Grade Parents:

Students were inquiring about Driver's. I contacted the ABSS supervisor and he sent the attached information. It is my understanding that whatever school your child is attending (private or public) Driver's Ed will have to be taken through that county. So, if your child is attending a private school in Guilford County, you must go through Guilford County schools for Driver's Ed. If you have questions, please first use the attached information and then contact Chad_Aharon@abss.k12.nc.us if you are zoned for ABSS.

GOLF 2024

Practices will be at Alamance Country Club on Thursdays starting at 4:00pm with the first practice on 2/22/2024.

Practices will likely finish around 6:30pm contingent on daylight and weather. Golfers can be dropped off at the driving range located behind/to the right of the swimming pool at Alamance Country Club.

Per our agreement with Alamance we will have two coaches at all times to support and supervise.

It will be expected that the golfers follow instructions when on the range, putting green or golf courses so we can enjoy this opportunity to utilize ACC facilities.

Participation

We are limited to the number of golfers we can facilitate at Alamance but our sign up seems to align with the 6-8 golfer cap.

BSS will have two successive tee times between 4:00 - 4:30 on Tuesdays or Thursdays – Typically Thursdays.

The practice tee will be available for four players at a time from ½ an hour prior to the first tee time through the start of the second tee time. Access to the putting green/short game area will be based on availability and should be used in groups of 4 players max per station area.

A coach must be with the team during the entirety of the practice time and will be responsible for checking the team in for times and confirming daily activities.

Prayer Requests

Please pray for:

Please remember in your prayers, David, brother of Abby (1st and Lizzie, Class of 2021) for his health.

Please pray for the Spear/Taylor family as they mourn the loss of Mr. Donald Spear, grandfather of Shannon (6th) and Caroline (3rd).

Princial's Message

Dear Parents,

Part I of the egg drop was a success! We will conclude with the egg drop next Friday, May 10. Thank you to the 8th graders and Mrs. Tichy for a wonderful event!

NC Opportunity Scholarship Updates

*This does not affect families who are renewing the NC Opportunity Scholarship, as you are a priority versus new families applying this upcoming school year, but you must renew by July 1st, 2024. Check your MyPortal for more info.

Last week, we received word from the NCSEAA that the funds for the NC Opportunity Scholarship had been exhausted and only Tier 1 families who applied for the first time this year, will be awarded a scholarship. If your family applied for one of these scholarships and falls on Tier 1, make sure you accept the award by TODAY, April 19th or you will lose the award. Make sure you check your MyPortal account and look in your To Do List.

If you want to know more about Tiers, please see THIS DOCUMENT.

For new families who applied and fall under the Tier 2 category, there might be awards and the NCSEAA will notify you in early May if your family will be getting the award-this is first come, first served. Yes, your family can wait until after you hear from the NCSEAA to sign your re-enrollment agreement with Blessed Sacrament School, but don't delay!

For families who fall under the Tier 3 & Tier 4 categories, there will be no funds for your students in the 2024-2025 school year. Please, mark your calendar to re-apply for the 2025-2026 school year on February 1, 2025, as more fund will be available.

If you are a family who fell in Tier 3 or Tier 2 of the NCSEAA Income Guidelines and you feel that you need extra help to pay for your child's tuition for the upcoming school year, please know that we have extended our deadline to apply for a BSS Scholarship to May 15th. You must submit an application via our FACTS Grant & Aid system.

Winter Uniforms

Friendly reminder, we will transition to our Summer Uniforms next Monday, April 8!

Summer uniforms begin next Monday, April 8. Just a few reminders:

  2. Review our Uniform Guidelines by CLICKING HERE.
  3. If you order any logo items and they are the wrong size, they CANNOT be returned.
  4. Orders are arriving in about a week. So if you need new shirts, you should order them as soon as possible to receive them in time.
  5. Graham Sporting Goods is the ONLY provider of PE shirts. French Toast will not be offering them.

Corporate Sponsorship Opportunities for the 2023-2024 school year

We have new Corporate Sponsorship Opportunities for the 2023-2024 school year. We would love to help promote your business, while you support our school!

Money raised during the 2022-2023 school year was used for several major and unexpected expenses. We are in the process of replacing our 26-year-old Fire Alarm System at the Main Campus. We also replaced and repaired flooring in several areas of the building. A few rooms also received new paint!

Due to increased enrollment, we purchased 100 new Chromebooks for our students. None of these things would have been possible without the support of our community!
