 Yule Log Recap
The neighborhood Yule Log event has been a tradition for 20 years. It started modestly with a large bonfire and treats. Since that time we have added Santa Claus, games, prizes, face painting, and caroling. Janie Kissling has headed it up for at least the last 15 years, if not longer.
The event is sponsored by the Chattahoochee Plantation Community Association, your neighborhood homeowners' association, with volunteer help from the CPWC. Last year was a challenge because of 100% rain forecast, so we were able to hold the event at the Atlanta Country Club. This year, the forecast kept fluctuating, but rain was in the air, and the event was rescheduled for the next day, a Monday, at McFarlane Park, because the ACC was not available. Numbers were down because it was held on a weekday, and parents had work. But those that came had a wonderful time, and it is a great way to promote community and holiday spirit.
Many thanks to all the many volunteers: Johanna Jenkins, signs; Pat Iaffaldano, cookies (with specific members pitching in too, like Tina Engberg and many others); Janet and Steve Francesconi, game monitors; Ellie Lacey, Julie Lischer, and Shea Amin, game monitors; Lisa Enochs and Julie Lischer, set-up; and Janet Thomas, hot cocoa. Janie lined up Santa, neighbor John Shrock, McFarlane Park, games and prizes, carol sheets, and the fire watchers, Belinda Vogel and her son, Zach.
Heather Peck got our face painter.
The day was beautiful and warm, and much cheer abounded.
