Q&A with Elena Bosch, APR
Meet Elena Bosch, APR, who just stepped into the role of 2023 OCPRSA President. This fantastic PR professional brings forward a wealth of experience across industries, from nonprofit and government to corporate social responsibility and so much in between. Read on, meet Elena, and be sure to come up and say hello at our next OCPRSA event!
Q: Elena, please tell us about you! Your job, etc.?
A: I proudly serve as the director of communications at Think Together, California’s largest afterschool and expanded learning provider, reaching an estimated 200,000 public school and charter students every year. I often brag I have the best job because I get to tell our impact story while working with top educators and philanthropic leaders throughout the state, including the LA Dodgers Foundation, LA84 Foundation, adidas and more! But we don’t just do sports. We offer STEM, arts, enrichment and so much more, so every student has the opportunity to reach their greatness! When I’m not working, I enjoy being a mom to two little ones, rooting for the Angels, enjoying a local hike or relaxing at the beach.
Q: What brought you to the OCPRSA?
A: I became a member of OCPRSA when I changed jobs from an agency in the Inland Empire to an in-house role here in the OC. Another long-time member encouraged me to get more involved with the chapter while we were at OCPRSA’s Trends event many years ago. I had previously served on the board for PRSA Inland Empire, so it was a natural fit for me to get more involved once I started working here locally. However, I would say I really started experiencing the power of PRSA once I earned my APR and started considering a role on the executive board. Serving in a role that works cross-functionally across all committees and with other chapters has brought me closer to so many of my colleagues. I couldn’t be prouder to work with some of the brightest leaders within PRSA right here with OCPRSA.
Q: What’s your favorite piece of advice for PR professionals?
A: Don’t let the fear of failure get in the way of your success. There is no such thing as failure. Only lessons to be learned. I know that seems cliché but it’s true. We all make mistakes. Some big. Some small. But you’ve got to get back up and try again. So, share the idea. Send the pitch. Take the risk. You got this.
