Q&A with Rachel Morrison
This week we meet Rachel Morrison, Ph.D. In addition to her role as Assistant Vice President, Communications and Brand Strategy at Chapman University, Rachel is also OCPRSA’s incoming membership chair! As a former writing professor and editor, Rachel brings a wealth of content strategy to the position. Meet Rachel!
Q: Rachel, please tell us about you! Your job, etc.
I moved to Orange County to work for Chapman University. My current role is assistant vice president of communications and brand strategy. The way I describe my day-to-day is “strategic air-traffic control for all owned and earned media and internal and external communications.” Every day it’s a thrill to be part
of defining and sharing the story of an institution that produces dynamic research with global impact.
Q: What brought you to OCPRSA?
I joined OCPRSA because of the professional development opportunities. Since joining about two years ago, I’ve participated in several workshops and webinars, and I’m currently enrolled in the Executive Leadership Development Program.
Q: What’s your favorite piece of advice for PR professionals?
Know your audience and know your brand. If you stay true to both, you’ll be able to share your organization’s narrative with authenticity and impact.
