Regis Answering Call to People Experiencing Homelessness 

The Regis SOS, located in a parking lot on the far east side of the northwest Denver campus has been operating since June 2021. The 19,000-square-foot-site, which is staffed 24/7 by the center, can host up to 60 people. Joe Giles said, "I feel safe here."

Amherst Project to Rebuild Business Communities 

Business leaders and the town of Amherst are partnering on a $250,000 project over the next 2 1/2 years that will focus on commercial growth, entrepreneurship and arts and culture as ways to rebuild economic vitality harmed by the pandemic.

Five University of New Mexico pre-med students came to Lea County as a focus to get doctors into rural communities facing shortages. The Bachelor of Arts Medical Doctor program sends members of next fall's junior class around the state.

The availability and affordability of housing for students has long been a problem in big cities and some smaller towns with large university or college populations. The resumption of in-person classes is pouring fuel on the fire of an overheated rental market.
