Dear ILS Members and Friends,
It was another exciting week of ILS events and activities. We had a fascinating Lunch and Learn with my friend, partner and international legal legend, Raquel (Rocky) Rodriguez, hosted at Buchanan’s Miami Office. Rocky shared some unbelievable legal stories about Miami’s history, including the Elian Gonzalez conflict, the Bush versus Gore “hanging chad” election, her time as General Counsel for Governor Jeb Bush, and many more.
This was the last Lunch and Learn of my term and I want to thank Rocky and all our other special guests (Patricia Mendez-Cambo, Raoul Cantero, and Edward Davis) for participating in such an important program series. I also want to extend a special thanks to ILS Past Chair and Chair of the Lunch and Learn Committee, James Meyer, who did a remarkable job with the interviews, program and committee.
Well, we’re only a few weeks away from the end of my term and I’m incredibly proud of all we’ve accomplished. But in this last month of the term, it’s time to celebrate!
We have our Chair’s Celebration on June 20 at Sir Harry’s Lounge at the Waldorf Astoria in Orlando during the Florida Bar Annual Convention. All members are encouraged to attend. Be sure to bring your dancing shoes because we’re going to party!
Then on June 21, we have our Annual Executive Council Meeting where we get to elect our new officers and Executive Council Members, address important Section business and recognize the outstanding service of our Section leadership.
