Dear ILS Members,

This past week, our members joined the Miami Finance Forum to enjoy a Game Night with the Marlins as they took on the Milwaukee Brewers. The Marlins came out with a win and both of our organizations also won as we had an opportunity to network, collaborate and experience a fun baseball game at a great venue. Yours truly threw out the first pitch of the game, which was a very cool experience with Billy the Marlin playing catcher! I want to thank everyone who joined us for the Game Night and extend a special thanks to our sponsors: Buchanan, Gonzalo Law, Phoenix Pro Connect and Vinali Group.

As we prepare for Memorial Day, I want to honor all of our fallen heroes who have fought for our freedom. This is an important time to appreciate the brave men and women who have paid the ultimate price for the privilege of liberty that we enjoy in the United States. It’s also a time to support the families who have lost loved ones in battle. While this holiday is filled with food, friends, family and travel, let us reflect on and recognize that we live in the “Home of the Free” “Because of the Brave.”

On May 28, we are having our last Lunch & Learn of our year featuring prominent international litigator Raquel (Rocky) Rodriguez at 12 pm at Buchanan in Miami. Please see more details below and be sure to rsvp to Liz Hockensmith (ehockensmith@floridabar.org).

On May 30, we are also co-hosting a Happy Hour with the Miami-Dade Bar Association at 5:30 pm at Biscayne Bay Brewing Company. Please see more details below and be sure to register.

The Miami International Arbitration Society (MIAS) Invites Practitioners and Scholars to Participate in the Inaugural Edition of its Annual Writing Competition

The Miami International Arbitration Society (“MIAS”) invites practitioners and scholars to participate in the inaugural edition of its annual Writing Competition. The MIAS Writing Competition aims to foster intellectual exploration of current and cutting-edge topics in international arbitration and to provide an excellent opportunity to new and emerging professionals to showcase their expertise and contribute to the field.

Participants are encouraged to submit original articles that contribute to the understanding of contemporary international arbitration.
