University Highlights

Student Recreation Center Now Open! A&M San Antonio recently celebrated the grand opening of the Student Recreation Center, a significant milestone in the University's growth. The 22,322-square-foot facility, largely funded by student fees, includes a gym, locker rooms, and a competition basketball court for the new men's and women's teams. During the opening ceremony, the University also unveiled a new look for General the Jaguar, the school’s mascot. Read More.

Distinguished Faculty Awards

Congratulations to the Distinguished Faculty Award winners, who were recognized for their outstanding performance. Honorees were selected by a committee of representatives from each college and one library representative.

 

This year's recipients are: 

Protecting the Region's Water


A project spearheaded by Dr. Davida Smyth to detect and research potentially threatening contaminants in the region's water has been approved for $1 million in funding. Read More.

Public Policy Scholars Program


Impact policy on a national level while living and working in Washington D.C.


The deadline to apply for the inaugural cohort of the Public Policy Scholars Program is Sept.12, at 5 p.m.


Students receive many program benefits including:


  • 6-12 hours of academic credits (in-person)
  • Part-time internship (15-20 hours per week)
  • Professional development and support
  • Free housing and more
