3rd Annual Sustainability Symposium

The 3rd Annual Sustainability Symposium will take place on November 1, 2023 at Manatee Lagoon. This year, the event will be from 8:00 am - 3:30 pm. Attendees can expect a full day of hands-on learning and networking. Professional development points can be earned. Spaces are limited to the first 100 registrations. Signed TDEs will be required to register. A light breakfast and boxed lunch are provided courtesy of Manatee Lagoon and Florida Power and Light.

2nd Annual Recycle Right Mania


The Second Annual Recycle Right Mania is touching down at a Homecoming Game near you! The contest will reward the high school that diverts the most waste from the landfill at their Homecoming Game this year. Schools are also encouraged to recycle at ALL of their games to help them warm up for the big event. The school that wins first place earns $1500! Monetary Prizes are sponsored by the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County and Keep Palm Beach County Beautiful.

Green Schools Challenge


The School District is partnering with Dream in Green for the Green Schools Challenge. Schools can sign up to earn points for their school by completing educational activities centered around sustainability. The aim of the program is to increase an appreciation for, connection to, and knowledge of the environment to become better environmental stewards. The Challenge is open to K-12 schools in Palm Beach County. Click below to learn more and sign up to participate.

Pollution Prevention Video Contest


Middle and high school students, Grades 8-12, are encouraged to participate in the 5th Annual Pollution Resolution Video Contest. Students are asked to make a short YouTube video on one type of environmental pollution affecting Palm Beach County. The contest will be open to entries on September 15, 2023, and closing on December 22, 2023. Winners will be announced on Earth Day, April 22, 2024. First Place winner takes home $500! Prizes are sponsored by Friends of Pollution Prevention Coalition of Palm Beach County. Click the image for rules, regulations, and registration.

Green Champions Can Earn Stipends for FY 24

This school year Green Champions are eligibe to earn up to $500 for tasks completed at their school or facility. Each District site must desgnate a Green Champion. Launch meetings for the Green Champion program are scheduled for September 26 and 27th. Please reach out to your administration/facility manager if you are interested in being the Green Champion for your site. Furtther information about the program can be found in Bulletin PD 24-112 COO.

🌟 Sustainable Schools Spotlight 🌟

Hidden Oaks K-8 Wins the FY 23 Green Schools Challenge

Schools from Palm Beach County were invited to participate and compete amongst grade levels to earn points by completing a series of "green tasks" from January 2023 through April of 2023. Tasks included assembling a Green Team, creating a Green School pledge, and completing grade-specific lessons provided by the Dream in Green program curriculum. Seventeen schools from Palm Beach County participated in the challenge, with Hidden Oaks earning the most points. Congratulations to Hidden Oaks K-8 and their school team Green Champion Renee Whitney and Behavioral Health Professional Jessica Fike. Watch the announcement from Dream in Green HERE.
