A lot of my Them Before Us work involves keeping up on everything happening in the marriage and family world. That means I read a lot, consume a crazy amount of podcasts, and keep my antenna up for stories that intersect with the rights of children. Why keep it all to myself?

We're starting this newsletter so you can see what I see and hear what I hear. We hope this quick hit will make you better informed and better able to defend kids.

I'm reading a good book about an awful reality. I'm barely two chapters in, but in Pagan America: The Decline of Christianity and the Dark Age to Come, Author John Daniel Davidson makes a strong case about how a pagan world that Christianity stamped out is reemerging, and how that resurgence is especially dangerous for children.

A Them Before Us supporter sent me this fascinating connection between motherhood and mercy in the Jewish language:

"It is amazing that the emotion 'mercy' or 'compassion,' 'ra-cha-min,' is derived from the name of the most motherly organ in the human body: the womb, 're-chem.'

This is where the strongest connection of compassion and love are bonded between the mother and the baby, respectively. Men may need to learn this, but if you are a mother, no further words are necessary; you have experienced this compassion first hand."
