SEPTEMBER 2018: News, Events, and Opportunities for CASA Volunteers
|
A letter from CASA Executive Director Angela Rose
Dear CASA Volunteers:
There is a lot going on at CASA this month. All of our programs are in full swing and each one is doing their part as CASA works to serve the "whole" child.
In addition to program happenings, fundraising activities are in full swing. Our inaugural Light of Hope Teller took place and we were blown away by the amazing support in Teller County. Our Community Campaign, which has been in the silent phase, is set to go public on October 3. Want to get a sneak peek? Check out the campaign webpage here. In addition, Light of Hope North is just around the corner on October 24th.
Please note that our office will be closed on October 8 in observance of Columbus Day.
Thank you all so very much for your hard work in standing up for children in the Pikes Peak Region. As always, please contact me any time with ideas, questions, or concerns.
Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Angela Rose

There are a couple of new faces at the CASA office!
If you've been to the CASA office lately, maybe you noticed that we added a couple of fabulous teammates to our staff roster. You can read about them below. Make sure you drop by to say hello next time you visit!
Karri Baker is our new Interim Grants Specialist. Well, kind of new anyways. She was CASA's Resource Development Coordinator from 2007 until 2016 and we feel pretty lucky to have her back with us now! With a bachelor's in Organizational Management, Karri's resume also includes a decade of driving membership growth for the National Strength & Conditioning Association. She and her husband of 30 years have lived in Spain and Scotland, but have enjoyed the ease of Colorado living for the past 22 years. Karri enjoys traveling, reading, gardening, genealogy, and spending time with her daughter, step children, and grand kids.
Jessica Kobylinski is CASA's new Director of Programs, the role left vacant by Angela when she became Executive Director. In this position, Jessica will ensure success, compliance, efficiency, and quality in the C-Fit, Dependency & Neglect, Milton Foster Children's Fund, and Supervised Exchange & Parenting Time programs. She is qualified for the challenge with a Master's in Public Administration, a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management, and 20 years experience providing quality services through our area's nonprofits. Jessica loves to host events in her home and spend time with her wife Amy, and the couple's children and foster children.

Request a thoughtful gift for your CASA child today
Advocate Sarah Hogan recently picked up a custom quilt for her CASA child, made by volunteer Sandra Kyner.
"I picked it up today and it is so lovely. I am sure my little CASA kid will love having something warm, that was made just for her," Sarah said. "What a valuable and thoughtful gift for kids who are going through a lot."
Want to request a custom quilt for your CASA child? Contact Angela at
angelar@casappr.org and tell her what type of character or theme your child might enjoy on a quilt.
