MAY 2018: News, Events, and Opportunities for CASA Volunteers

A letter from CASA Executive Director Angela Rose

Dear Volunteers:

Happy May! I hope all the moms out there had a great Mother's Day and that you are all enjoying springtime in Colorado.

I have some exciting news to share. We held our annual Light of Hope fundraiser last month and I am pleased to report we raised more than $370,000! This exceeded our goal and will go a long way toward meeting our vision of serving every child in need in our region.

As we strive toward serving all children, funding is extremely important. Equally important however is YOU, our dedicated volunteers. We are so appreciative of what you do for children in the Pikes Peak Region and are hopeful to find more volunteers to join you in this work. If you have friends or family who have expressed interest in volunteering with CASA, please share with them that we have a volunteer training class beginning on May 29. Anyone who goes through this training will be on track to help kids by this summer! Volunteer applications are available here.

As a reminder, our office will be closed on May 28 for Memorial Day. As always, never hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
Angela

Welcome and thank you to our newest volunteers!

On May 8, a new class of Court Appointed Special Advocate and Supervised Exchange and Parenting Time volunteers were sworn in as officers of the court by 4th Judicial District Judge Jill Brady. Click here to meet them now.

Meeting the critical needs of children in Teller County

As many of you are aware, CASA opened an office in Teller County earlier this year, allowing us to effectively serve more children throughout the Pikes Peak Region.

"Teller County is growing and we're now better positioned to proactively respond to the critical needs of children entering the child welfare system through our advocacy program, as well as to children who need a safe place to visit a parent through our Supervised Exchange & Parenting Time (SEPT) program," said Teller County Program Manager Janet Stoddard.

If you want to make an impact in Teller County (or know someone who does), give Janet a call at 719-286-0846 or send her an email to janets@casappr.org.

Register Now: North Pole Foster Children's Festival

Don't forget to get your CASA kiddos registered for the North Pole Foster Children's Festival! Registration forms can be downloaded here and must be turned in by May 30th.

The event will be at the North Pole in Cascade, Colorado, on Saturday, June 2nd, from 10am-5pm.
Looking for Volunteer Handyman & Front Desk Helper

From time to time, CASA needs volunteers for basic handyman or building maintenance work. If you'd like to volunteer your time in this capacity, please email Deb Cline. We are also
looking for some volunteers who could help cover our front desk and reception area during lunch hours. If you are interested, please contact Melissa Beers.

Opportunities for companies to partner with CASA

Do you own, manage or work for a company? Do you know of a company that would like to partner with CASA or who would be a good partner for CASA?

CASA is expanding our Corporate Outreach Plan and we would like to hear from you!  We are partnering with companies in many different ways and want to give your company an opportunity to participate.

Please send your name and the name of your company to jillc@casappr.org .  Thank you for all of the ways you support CASA!
