Campus Highlights

A Look at the Class of 2027 through the Lens of the Marist Mindset List



Born into a world of rapid change, the Class of 2027 is shaping tomorrow's landscape with its unique interests and digital fluency, redefining what it means to be a global citizen in the 21st century. To delve into the minds of the Class of 2027, the recently released Marist Mindset List provides a sense of the outlooks of incoming first-year students who are expected to graduate in 2027. The list takes readers through the overarching student perspectives of those mostly born in 2005, tackling topics from music to movies to global issues like climate change.

U.S. News Ranks Marist Among Best in Undergraduate Instruction


Marist College once again shines in the latest rankings by U.S. News and World Report. In the publication’s Best Colleges list, Marist ranks 2nd in the Best Undergraduate Teaching category within the Universities North region, which includes the Northeast, New England, and portions of the Mid-Atlantic. This category focuses on schools whose faculty and administrators are committed to teaching undergraduate students in a high-quality manner. Marist skyrocketed to 2nd from being ranked 16th in this category last year.

Arctic Edges Exhibition

Open through Saturday, October 7

The Marist College Art Gallery proudly opened the season with the work of Prof. Matt Frieburghaus in an exhibition entitled "Artic Edges." The exhibition will feature video, collage, watercolors and objects that Prof. Frieburghaus created based on his research from an expedition to the Arctic.


Students can visit the exhibition Monday - Saturday, 12:00 - 5:00 p.m., through October 7. The Marist College Art Gallery is located in the Steel Plant Studios.

The 2023 Handel-Krom Lecture in Hudson River Valley History

Thursday, September 28 | Nelly Goletti Theatre & via Zoom | 7:00 p.m.

The Hudson River Valley Institute is excited to invite you and your students to the 2023 Handel-Krom Lecture in Hudson River Valley History, which will be held as both an in-person AND virtual event. The program “Networks of Slavery: How Bondage Shaped Hudson River Valley Culture," will be given by Dr. Nicole Saffold Maskiell on Thursday, September 28, at 7:00 p.m. The event will take place in the Nelly Goletti Theatre at Marist College and live on Zoom.


Pre-registration is required for in-person AND virtual attendees!

Mosaic Fall 2023 Submissions Open

Submissions due by September 29

The Marist Mosaic is seeking submissions for the Fall 2023 edition of Mosaic. Mosaic is a student run literary and art magazine that features work from talented students of all majors.


All submissions will undergo a blind peer review process by members of our editorial team for selection. In addition to publication, select submissions will be chosen by our board of student editors and awarded first, second or third place in each category.


Students can submit their work for the Mosaic, here. All submissions are due by September 29 at 11:55 p.m.

Banned Book Week Events

The James A Cannvino Library and the Poughkeepsie Public LIbrary District present Banned Books Week.

Fall 2023 Career and Internship Fair

Thursday, October 5 | 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. | McCann Center | RSVP in Handshake

Open to students in all class years and majors.

 

Students can network with employers and Marist alumni who work at companies in various career clusters and learn about full-time job openings and internship opportunities. Companies who will be attending this career fair include, but are not limited to:

  • Bulgari 
  • FBI 
  • The Hartford Financial Services 
  • New York State Police 
  • New York State Department of Civil Service
  • United States Army


Students should bring hard copies of their resume to this event. Workplace attire is recommended.

Major and Minors Fair

Wednesday, October 18 | 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. | Student Center 3102-3105

This annual event brings together representatives from all majors offered at Marist College. Students are given the opportunity to speak with Deans, faculty, and upperclassmen in their major areas of interest.

Vaccine Clinic

Offered every other Wednesday | September 20 - November 29 | Murray Student Center, 3rd Floor

Students can take advantage of the on campus vaccine clinics throughout the fall semester. Students may select from a variety of vaccines: flu, Covid 19, HPV, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, MMR, Meningitis ACWY, and Meningitis B. Please bring your Marist ID, insurance card, and a method of payment (for any co-pays). Cost(s) are dependent upon insurance coverage.

International students can join us for a special Drop-In Hours session to help them prepare for the Career and Internship Fair. A career coach will be available to help with resume reviews, how to approach an employer, appropriate questions to ask an employer, and strategies for follow up with an employer after the fair.


No appointment needed. Students will be assisted on a first come, first served basis.

Career Services Drop-In Hours

The Marist College Center for Career Services will host Drop-In Hours for students from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in Cannavino Library 332.


Drop-In Hours will be for learning how to schedule an appointment using Handshake or brief résumé reviews. No appointment is necessary during Drop-In Hours.

Counseling Services


Counseling Services is located in the heart of campus on the first floor of Midrise. Dedicated to campus wellness, they provide: 


  • Short-term, goal-focused, biweekly counseling 
  • Referrals to weekly, long-term and specialized options off campus or close to home 
  • Weekly groups and workshops 
  • Education and Trainings 
  • Medication Evaluation and Management
  • Crisis Response

Academic Learning Center


The Academic Learning Center hosts a variety of programs to assist students:


Academic Review and Drop-In Sessions: The Academic Learning Center sponsors review and drop-in sessions in various subjects for students in need of help. (free service)


Private Tutoring: The Academic Learning Center trains and assigns peer tutors for students in need of individualized help. (minimal fee involved)


Proofreading: The goal of the proofreading program is to provide free proofreading services to the Marist community. Trained writing tutors will review student papers during staffed proofreading hours in the Academic Learning Center or online. (free service)


Drop-In Proofreading: A trained proofreader will be ready and waiting to proofread a student's paper for grammar and clarity. Students are served on a first-come, first-served basis. An appointment is needed for papers that are 10 or more pages in length. Please contact the Academic Learning Center directly to make an appointment.


On-Line Proofreading: Students should visit Brightspace.marist.edu and log in using their Marist account and password.

  • Monday - Friday, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., The Academic Learning Center (LB 331)
  • Monday - Thursday, 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., 3rd Floor Library Resource Center
Math Lab

The Math Lab is a peer help/tutoring center staffed entirely by student tutors, located in Hancock Center Room 3021.


Students may drop in without an appointment to seek assistance with certain mathematics courses.


The Math Lab staff can provide assistance with the following courses:

  • MATH 108 Intermediate Algebra
  • MATH 115 Calculus with Management Applications
  • MATH 120 Precalculus
  • MATH 241 Calculus I
  • MATH 242 Calculus II

Writing Center

The Marist Writing Center is another resource that offers free, one-on-one tutoring sessions to anyone in the Marist College community. They work with writers at any stage of the writing process and can help whether you are on your first or final draft.
