News From Gloucester Mathews Care Clinic

Summer/Fall 2024

Clinic News

We bid farewell to Dr. Wendell Poulsen this summer. Dr. P (pictured with his wife, Betsy) retired after serving as GMCC's practice manager for the past 9 years. We miss him but know he is enjoying his (second) retirement!

Tammy Carlton joined the GMCC staff this summer as our new medical assistant. When she's not in the lab drawing blood, she's busy managing patient referrals and charts... and yes, assisting our providers in the exam room. Tammy is currently studying to receive her LPN license, too.

Help Wanted- Help Needed

Volunteers Needed!

We are in great need of volunteer medical and dental care providers. Tax credits are available for our volunteers! If interested, please contact Executive Director Arlene Armentor.

Staff Openings

The Dental Clinic is hiring a part-time dental assistant to work 20-25 hours a week, Monday-Friday.

The Medical Clinic is hiring a part-time LPN to work approximately 20 hours a week. Interested candidates should contact CJ Badger, GMCC's Director of Patient Care.

Special Events

GMCC's 14th Annual Golf Classic was held at Kingsmill Resort on August 16. We welcomed 140 golfers for a day on the plantation course followed by a buffet luncheon and award presentation.

In keeping with GMCC tradition, we wished happy birthday to our friend and prior board member Vicky Gunn... and recognized our "Most Seasoned Team" of Margi Teagle, Vivian Shackleford, Sarah Finney, and Eva Mullins (pictured) with sashes to recognize their seniority and their fashion flair. Sarah Finney found great utility in her sash when her golf shoe fell apart on the course.

In addition to lots of fun and a few antics, together we raised almost $40,000 for patient care. Thank you!

Coming Soon-- Oktoberfest!

Our annual celebration of our clinic heroes will be held at the Ware River Yacht Club on Sunday, October 6 from 3-7 PM in true Bavarian style! Live music by the Original Elbe Musikanten Band and authentic German cuisine catered by chef Brian Marshall are on the menu.
